It's maintained really well and is really impressive up close.
When you get closer, you realize how massive the structure is and how daunting a task it must have been for the builders.

That is great to hear. I would love to visit the arch to see from near as well as to go inside. I have watched a documentary of the arch’es construction long time ago. It was impressive. On the day of installing the key stone, the final top piece of the arch, it was too narrow to place, engineers figured out that was due to the high heat from the sun deflected structure. They hosed the entire structure with water to cool down and voila, the piece got in, and the arch was completed.
