Thanks for the comment... These are from the bog. I live near the Twin Cities, so I manage to make it out there a few times each year. I hit a pretty good day in late December/Early January. There was winter fog that froze on the trees, and I had soft light for the 10 hours I spent looking for birds on foot and in the car. I also managed to hit the area as a flock of evening grosbeaks were working their way through.
It wasn't my best day in the bog, but its a great day any time you can to photograph an owl in that boreal forest

I love to visit the area. I know those situations well. My wife is from Oakdale and I went to HS and college in River Falls, WI ( actually had a surgery as a kid at Stillwater Hospital). So, we make it up that way a few times per year. I always spend some spring or early summer days at Sherburne and Crex Meadows every year as well.
Is highlight-weighted metering disabled when using manual focus lenses and the FTZ adapter on Z bodies? I can't find any information from Nikon regarding this.
I really like the 35S. I can shoot at 1.8 with no frustration. It renders beautiful focus separations and autofocus is very good. Z system makes me a bit lazy and I do not use Tripods as much as I should these days, but when I do, it also gives me more reward. Honest, or transparent rendition but can get drama too. I do keep thinking that I may like this lens more than Zeiss 35/2 distagon. I don’t own 50S, but that lens also seems like a great lens. How do you like 35S?
There's not much left now of the Treadwell mine on Douglas Island, but 100 years ago it was the largest hard rock gold mine in the world. The pumphouse seen here was built in 1914 and provided salt water for the milling process.
