I take your points. Still since the aperture is so modest 5.6-6.3 it seems within the realm of possibility. And while we are likely looking at a shell, it doesn’t look like there’s any gap from where an extending barrel would protrude.
Here’s hoping at least.

I'll be really surprised if that doesn't extend while zooming. I see it is at 600mm but it doesn't even look to have the internal barrel present from the top down shot. This is just a casing and some electronics...not even sure if there is any glass in it. The Yahoo Auction listing lists it as junk for possible parts.
If this doesn't extend then I'd look at it a lot more seriously. But we've seen what it takes to make a big lens that doesn't extend (Canon 200-400 and Nikon 180-400)...this ain't that.

What is up with the open grid structure in the pictures. I am sure there must be a solid backing behind it. However, since this is a wildlife/sports lens it will be used outdoors in the elements. That open grid looks like a perfect water and dirt trap to me.
I guess you could always use it as a sluice for gold in a pinch. Wildlife, and gold prospecting dual purpose lens?

It's missing the rubber grips.

Has “FE” in the badging. Definitely not A mount.
This is a long rumored lens with a rumored release date days away. It matches the rumors of a wildlife lens. If the timing of the leak doesn’t strike as more than coincidental...
Sure. Anything is possible, but in my experience with camera and lens leaks, where there’s smoke there’s fire.
Looking closely at the pictures you can see it’s missing a front element. So we can infer that the final assembly will be longer than what we see in the pictures. Also the circuit board by the mount appears broken. A piece looks fractured off. Curious.

I would not count on this being real in anyway to what we think it maybe. It could even be a A mount.

I have it on good authority that the lens on the auction site was one of the ones from the YouTube shill press event....FroKnowsPhoto used it to beat down Tony Northrup and this is what was left of it afterwards...
It says «Optical Steady Shot» near the mount, and A-mount lenses never had that.
The lens is either a prototype or an unfinished lens from the assembly line. Maybe stolen, who knows. Selling a non-released lens on the internet seems like a bad idea to me, since I assume there’s no way Sony would allow that. I think the seller has a big problem, or maybe could be up for a Darwin Award, almost.

The Sony 70-200/4 G has a G on black background, the G master lenses have a G on red/orange background. The 70-200/4 is the only white G lens, i.e. not G master. The 200-600mm G looks the same to me.

On SAR the G is on both sides in different directions. I thought normally only one G label. Anyway should we be betting donuts is the real question.
I'm not taking any bets...personally I really hope this isn't the lens coming next week and this was a big coincidence. Still hoping for 500 and 600 f/4 primes.
