I need to buy a mola but the wife won't be happy and since wfh, I can't hide at the studio at my work place. I finally put bowen adapter on my Kacey's beauty dish and plan to use it next time.
oh yes, harder to hide new toys these days for sure
I remember reading about the Kacey ones a long time ago when I first started looking into Molas. Looking forward to your photos!

About six AM this morning my Wife came and said she needed a new Black and White headshot at the last minute. This headshot had been requested by the people from a Pod Cast she is being featured on for the release of her new international business book.
Portraits and headshots are not my normal photographic genre, so I was a bit panicked by her urgent request. Given no choice I went out to the garage and set up a quick light setup. One round soft box with a Godox AD200, a large white reflector, and white background lit with a Godox V860II speed light.
The lighting was setup as a basic clamshell, with the speed light hidden behind her. I decided it best to keep it as simple as possible.
My portrait editing skills are also basically non existent.
The glasses with all the complications they introduce didn't help matters. Kept the reflections out with light position, not in post. At least that part worked out.
The filter effect is nice here! I was literally just thinking about picking one of these up for sunset blooms and street at night atmospherics. But which one to get?? And what strength? I wish I could just rent several of them for a few days.

I am digging diffusion filters a lot lately! I now have three: a Black Pro Mist 1/4, BPM 1/2 and a Prism Lens FX Dream Filter. I’d say the BPM filters are generally more intense than the dream, but they also work in a totally different way. I have posted some samples in a diffusion filter thread we have going in the alt gear forum, including stacking all three together for fun.
The strength question is hard to answer. I’d say it depends on...
A) The effect you are actually going for.
B) The focal length that you shoot at. A BPM 1/4 on a 25mm will behave similarly to a 1/2 on a 50mm.
C) The results will be very different in different lighting conditions.

One more with the Mola Setti and 105mm 1.4 art.
I am digging the dish look. Nice crispy highlights and detail! I have the Glow 25” collapsible in silver that kind of scratches that crispy itch on the cheap but I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the Mola.
