I really like the simplicity of zero background. Of course an interesting model and pose help too
Thank you very much!
Needless to say Ari is a very talented and semi-professional model and photographing her was a real pleasure. However, I also enjoyed a brief session with a 100% novice model, more a girl-next-door type, Heather. Here is one of the images of Heather using the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 at wide open...

I always complain about Sony colors, but I must admit that I love editing Sony files. The dimensionality and malleability are very impressive, and I'm very happy with the camera (but still think it's easier to get nice colors from Canon though).

Hi Joshua,
I am new to Sony and this forum. Wildly impressed with what you posted here. Do you have a link to any posts anywhere that you discuss your editing process or techniques? Thanks.

She does, but she's younger, slimmer, and prettier, haha.
A bunch from my last holidays, these are all in NYC, featuring a lot of lenses (Tamron 17-35, sigma 35, Samyang 85, canon 70-200...)

Not even a little. A thinner Alicia Keys maybe.
Yes, I could see her resemblance to Alicia Keys.

Jim, thank you so much!
Yoshua, thank you as well! I’m so jaleous I love your pro shots, I’d love to go to one of those photo shoots even if it’s just to see photographers working
Matthew, I’m liking a lot what you’re doing here and in the picture with the red lighting and the snoot, I love you’re focusing more in the artistic part of the pictures, and they deliver, they’re so sensual and emotional. Sometimes I focus too hard in the technical part and then the pictures are soulless shit. But well, most of the time I’m just taking random memories in trips and stuff, but your pictures inspire Did you use external lighting in that one? No, right?
About the boots, they’re just non-expensive from Zara. One good thing Spanish people do is good clothing at affordable price. Zara group (includying pull&bear, Bershka and others) is a quite profiteable company originally from Spain. However, as you can see in one of the pictures, we had a nice time buying discounted clothes from us brands in NYC haha.
Edit: I posted the pictures smaller for not to distort the forum in the PC, and now in the iPad they look too blurred. What is the sweet spot in resolution? In the phone is everything messed up always as well...

Thank you so much man! No external lighting on that one. Key light from the overhead light in the shower of a hotel as I didn’t have anything besides one lens and my camera with me

I recently got a cheap Neewer snoot off of amazon to mess around with for ~$13. I was planning to use it more as an accent light modifier but I tried it out as a main light and actually really liked the results. This is one of the shots I posted on Instagram that Juanma was alluding to. It was shot with a Godox speedlight, a red gel, the snoot, and the Tamron 28-75. I barely edited it at all and actually sharpened the skin in focus, which is not something I generally do.

Just in case you don’t remember how much I love my Samyang 85 and how happy I am having a copy that focuses nicely (I hope I can keep it or my “repaired” one is really working when they give it back to me).

Wow I just saw yours after posting mine!
I love that shot! Her expression is awesome, and the focus falloff is simply beautiful. And the color totally matches the feeling.

Thanks man! It’s a really cool modifier! I am pretty set for big soft light with a 48” octabox and 60” umbrella that I’m fairly comfortable with, so I am starting to experiment with harder and more restricted light. I also just got a 16x48” Glow strip box that I have only shot some tests with but it’s very promising, especially with the grid attached. It is very interesting as a key light when oriented horizontally. You get a gradual fall off from the subject’s face that is quite moody imo. I think I’m going to get a smaller strip as well, maybe the Cheetahstand 9x35 as Glow doesn’t really have an EZ lock strip in that size.

I love taking pictures of people in front of these kind of big trunks. I find the texture and the depth quite interesting, and they provide a nice background for a dark mood. All taken with the Sammy 85 at 1.4 and developed with my preset in Lightroom.
