Pardon me! I thought it was because of your GF that you became a cat person! We both grew up with dogs, but as we now live in a condo/apartment, dogs are very high-maintenance compared to cats - leave some food/water and a couple of litter boxes and you are good to go! And our cats are self-cleaning cats.

No worries!

I haven't had a cat or dog since I moved from my parents some 13-14 years ago but my parents have a dog. My GF came with a cat (or the cat came with a GF? ) and I'm very happy about with it. I love having a cat in my apartment as it adds a lot of companionship and fun and great moments.

Thankfully our cat is also self cleaning although we don't have a self cleaning litter box that @Whumber is speaking of! But as you say, cats are so much easier, specially in an apartment. Leave food and water and they can handle them selves over night even though I don't like leaving her that long.

Yeah ... I think your cat came with a servant i.e. your GF. As the saying goes ... Dogs have Owners - Cats have Staff! We did have the Rolls Royce of litter boxes - the $500 automatic self-cleaning Litter Robot - but when it died after a few years of use (built-in obsolescence?) we went back to the cheapo manual-cleaning boxes. Besides, with 2 cats we will need 3 litter boxes. No way I am spending $1,500 for 3 litter boxes! Being their slaves is bad enough. I don't have to be their sugar-daddy too.

That's the one we have, it pretty great. Did you ever try repairing it when it broke? They sell replacement parts in case something breaks.

I called them about a repair but they said they don’t have the parts for the older model anymore, and offered me a discount on the newer model, but we didn’t take up their offer.

A shot from Paris, from an advantageous location looking down on the Avenue de l'Opera, just around sunset. The sun was already behind the buildings, creating a yellow - orange glow in the sky.

G9, Panasonic 35-100/2.8 II lens, f8, ISO 100. Camera on tripod, single exposure.

Thanks Rasmus.

Love the cat's eyes shot, and I find the shot of the insect almost unbelievable (in a good way!). Great capture.

Thanks Brian!

The insect was on top of a fly agaric and I actually didn't see until I shot the actual fly agaric and reviewed the sharpness of the image, After I discovered the insect I changed focus and tried to get that instead, it's only a few milimeters large so it was hard to get the focus where I wanted.

Color version was RAW and exported from Lightroom with absolute zero changes part from the normal Lightroom sharpening, no noise reduction even part from the normal color noise reduction. I really like the G9 files, they feel very analogue to me.

B&W version was straight out of camera JPG using L.Monochrome D profile. I really love the JPG's out of the G9 as well which is the first for me really (actually, I did like the ones out of my X100S as well).

Another evening shot from Paris. Consider looking at the Flickr link for the best view.

Abandoned

Adjacent to the island of St. Pierre, part of the islands known as St. Pierre & Miquelon, just a bit south of Newfoundland, Canada, there is this tiny little strip of island that was previously occupied, but now sits empty. Someone commented that the buildings may be leased during the summer months.

As shot, these buildings are unoccupied. Makes for an interesting scene.

Actually by Robin Wong through Ming Theins website after they started their work together

Great review as always by Robin and he seemed to like the camera. There are very few things with the G9 I would change actually. I would like a bigger buffer, I'd also like faster write speed and as such would prefer one UHS-II slot and one UHS-I slot in order for the camera to not have to share the PCI lanes, as it is now it takes too long for the camera to write a burst, something the E-M1.2 does much faster.

The other thing is the distortion in the huge viewfinder, I only really notice it when shooting architecture up close so not a big deal but it would be nicer without it. On the other hand, I prefer having the huge 0,83 magnification and 3,69mil and can live with some distortion

I am very split with color/B&W right now. The thing is I shoot more and more color.

I still love B&W and in the beginning I almost converted everything to B&W but as of lately I have enjoyed color more as well, part of it due to the G9 actually. I saw some more info on the camera from the release date and apparently they've made some really big changes to color science among other things compared to their GH line.

@Blueshound I could move in there any day!! So beautiful and a lovely landscape!

I’m so incredibly excited to have found this thread! I have whittled away the options and have decided the g9 will be in my near future. Until then, I will continue to fire away on the dmc-gf2 and follow all of your inspiring work.
