To update my previous posts on this threat, yesterday a PL 100-400 arrived that I purchased used from a FM seller. This purchase completed the main reason why I decided to buy a G9 over the EM1.2. I have been wanting a 100-400 since Canon first came out with its version many years ago, but neiver got around to it. In my two days of light testing of this lens on the G9, I think it is a keeper and the combo is likely to see many years of use. I attach a few of the more interesting photos from the combo from the last two days testing the lens around the house. As I was about to take my first bird photo with it, the Rock Dove flew off its perch on a neighbors house. The wasp was hanging out a few feet from my chair. A young house finch was perched on the tree next to our feeded and a morning dove was on the wall behind the feeder is relatively poor light. In zooming that photo to near 100%, shows some reasonable detail around the bird's eye and in it feathers. Now I need to take a walk soon along the Rio Grande bosque to give the combo a real world test.
I have been trying to get a reasonable photo of the galactic core off and on for about a year. Anyone who tries this knows that the moon, clouds, and rain often get in the way of this effort. A few weeks ago we spent a week in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. On the second night there I decided to try again just to see what I could get for a photo from behind our rental unit. Unfortunately, there was considerable light pollution from the LED lights behind the units. Here are a couple of G9 photos from that night, which I have worked over considerably in LR in trying to compensate for the porch lighting. Both are single image 20-25 second exposures. After seeing these, I decided the images could be vastly improved on by finding a darker sky location on a subsequent night and stacking multiple exposures. But the rest of the nights there again plagued me with clouds and rain. Oh well, a task for another time ... I just wished I had a dark sky closer to home. Mike.
I think those are great mdmarcus, light polution or not!
Hoping to try some my self this autumn or winter, do have a "dark sky" location about and hour and a half drive away but will just try it at home first. See if I can learn something

Hadn't I wanted to shoot wild life and birds there would be no need for the super long lenses and I could've spent the money on wide angles and normals instead but NOOO

another pic of the deer. keep my ss low and panning a little bit. so I lost some sharpness on the head. but you could see it was a beautiful rainy day. I forgot to put the ibis on, maybe I had then a perfect image
