Looks real good. Feeling better now about trying to sell my 85 GM to get money for the 135 GM This is a nice way back in if I want to add a quality 85mm again. Not quite GM quality rendering wise to my eye, but plenty good enough.

Exactly. My 135 is primary and not fond of the Batis and Sony 1.8 with bokeh and such. So this compliments my 50 and 135

Guy, is it purely the lens color cast or is the Auto WB fooled? I wonder if lens color cast could confuse AWB.

The results look great so far. I’ll probably stick with my FE 1.8, but I may make a swap down the line if I start doing more portraits. It’s a good time to be a Sony shooter with so many great 1st and 3rd party options. I’m happy I took the risk of investing in the system early on.

I had freezes regularly, needing to remove the battery. Flares were excessive, too (sun in the frame or counter-flash light on the dance floor. No go at wedding. So gave the 35 to my daughter and bought a second Sony 35/1.4.
The Sony is not as sharp wide open, but from f1.6/f1.8 my copy is excellent, AF is clearly faster, too.
The Samying is however excellent value for the price.

Now there ia accurate and there is what you like. I tend to go with what I like more often than accurate. But I like to be accurate first than make my adjustment which usually is just making it a little warmer. If im going to press or off to magazine I will go accurate as the printer needs that setting

Just a quicky between the Sony 50 and Samyang 85. Just want to show the difference here. Its not a big deal but something to be aware of. For us advanced users we would pick up on this right away

See on the Samyang the more warmth kills the blue sky. What I will do with Big Bronco is balance this out because they are head on comparisons for resolution at this point. Any color change may throw someone off. Bottom line its controlling the variables and in this case head to head you need to do that. But we all know now the Samyang is a warmer file out of the gate. Still like to test this with a color checker in place

Basically, I like warmer colors. That's why I sold the Sony FE85 1.8 for the Batis 85 1.8.
Would be interesting to see some portraits without WB changes.
