I have two smart adapters, I was using a Kipon EF-GFX for those images. The Techart Pro EF-GFX works well too, and focusses a little faster.
Thanks! What's the advantage of the Kipon that causes you not to exclusively use the faster focusing adapter?
Congratulations . I think the weight and the size scares off many potential buyers. My combination (d180+40mm kind) I used as standard in the Poland vacation. With a hand strap and Spider Holster pro I could walk for several hours without any problems.
Great images here How would you guys compare this with the 35 and 50 ART, in terms of IQ and rendering? I've used both and I was wondering about the price difference. The 50 1.4 ART rivals the Otus, so how much better could this be?

Better than the 35 and 50 Art (sharper, less CA). Haven’t shot the Otus but Lensrentals.com posted an MTF graph that indicates the 40 Art is also better than the Otus (wide open, at infinity).
I've had the 35 art since release. It's actually my favorite lens. But the Sigma 40 Art is much better. It's much sharper in the corners at aperture 1.4 and also has much less CA (especially in bokeh it's hard to remove). I didn't do direct comparisons myself, but other people did:

I haven't tried astro work yet. But at night in the city without a tripod, the lens is absolutely usable because of the great performance @ F1.4:
Rafael, wonderful images with the 40 Art There is no doubt the 40 Art is a superb lens but the weight and size almost double that of the 35 and 50 Art is hard to justify when I travel. The 40mm FOV is usually a utility lens that you carry rather than speciality lens you use in studio.
My recent trip to Spain last year I used the 28E and I thought it was the cusp of the size/weight that I wished to carry while traveling. The ideal lens to go is the 58G which is surprising small and only weighs 385gms assuming you gel with it.
Thank you, Charles. I have the 58G myself. For portraits it's gigantic. However it is too long for me personally as an allrouner. I prefer 35mm (ART) as lens to go. I also used the 28E for some thousand photos on vacation. Excellent lens, the Bokeh is absolutely great and it is also very sharp @f1.4. But I found it too wide. The 40 ART restricts me because I have to leave other lenses at home. I don't know if I will keep it
I think the 40 is the sharpest lens I've ever used. Sharper than my 55 Otus. However, the bokeh rendering (although close, the single bokeh ball Kasson test looks very similar to Otus), ghosting, flare control and colors are not quite as good. Still...AF and that complete frame sharpness...definitely going to be one of the greats.
