First Guy, thanks for sharing and doing a complete test.
I'm not 100% critical, but I think I am getting somewhat similar results all around, if not slightly less sharp around the corner (which may have sth to do with using A73 instead of R3)
However, I do think something is a bit off WO at the center. I remember my copy to produce clear image WO when looking 1:1 at center with little fuzziness (or paint-like rendition).
Maybe I should go back and revisit it in detail when I get a chance. But again, maybe the R3 is resolving in finer details than 73, which if that's the case, the R3 is reaching the lens resolution limit when WO?
Well It is pretty bad astigmatism and other CA issues wide open. Going to see if I can find my CV 40 1.2 as I got the same thing. The A7rIII will be harder on a lens for sure . Its trying to resolve 42mpx instead of 24
Thanks for the test (and the RAWs) Guy. The lighting was very challenging changing between apertures.
At f/2, it's a sharp lens at center but the corners only come alive at f/4. The latter improves further at f/5.6 and f/8 but I don't see much difference at f/11, except for some center diffraction.
It's possible that the FE Plus version will perform better towards the corners but it remains to be seen.

Okay I got out very early this morning as I need to take my wife to airport. Sunrise stuff and cold.
Things look a lot better with the sun. I color corrected a little since it was very warm light. Im only doing that on Big Bronco and made some exposure /vignette adjustments so all looks the same . Once I get to other tests I won't do anything
So here is at F4 uncorrected and than corrected as best I can in PS. Which needs to be cropped but I left it alone
lets start with F1.4 . These are not corrected for distortion
Key point here is watch Center when I get to F2. I do have a center test also. F2 is a big jump on center. Ive also decided if I keep this lens its a F2 lens. I like that little extra crispy center
As you can see that little extra contrast boost and detail in the center crop that F2 at least for me is the one to use. I did shoot more at 1.4 so you can all look at those and decide what you like best given subject. Im a little bit of a sharpness freak on center at least. I have a separate center test we will look at
Honestly on a Sony sensor I did not expect it to be even this good in the corners. What a Sony FE Plus lens they are selling will do but my guess maybe 1 stop improvement in the corners, maybe more
