Just realized my filter ring hood is causing vignetting as I did a vignetting test with it on and off just in case and I can see it. So Big Bronco ignore the Vignetting the hood was on...

If you didn't detect any meaningful field curvature with your version (which is surprising), I don't think the FE Plus will do much better but perhaps it will have less astigmatism off-axis. I think that Bastian is testing the FE Plus version. Let's see what he gets.

Fred I tried again this morning focused on center at 1.4 and again at F2 on center than moved the magnification up to the corners and tried to focus on corner and it was relatively the same. One reason Im starting to like this. I dont have to play any focusing games
Yes it may help the Astigmatism more and that's may clear the wider apertures upon some. Just have to see what Bastian comes up with there. As it is at the moment. Im not that motivated to get the Sony version. Sure it maybe slightly better but Im not throwing this out the door yet.

It's incredible the FE Plus version is not for sale on Ebay, Amazon or any US store!
Okay here is where the rubber meets the road. Now to be perfectly fair here the Sony 50 1.4 and GM 85 1.4 do exactly the same thing here at 1.4 its a little less contrast and less detail but at 1.8 with those two lenses it really hits it mark. Here it looks like at F2 . Why I said I will treat this as a F2 lens but you still get that nice glow on some things . Again why you test this stuff
Im not perfect level here and big open parking lot and where does this guy park his Ram truck, mind you the coffee shop is 15o feet away. You guessed it in front of my center test.
I will shoot some more images and tests, But interested to hear folks opinions. I have a couple trips coming up and thinking of keeping this as this would be a nice lens to have for sure in NY. I miss a 28mm focal length. Long term I'm not sure but it does give me a fast wide angle for my MF kit which the only one I have now is the CV 40. I will also have my 135 for NY. Cant wait for that lens
Oh and I removed the second filter ring so it won't vignette.
