On this one the lower corners do seem to have a fair bit of smearing even at f/2. Here you might see the advantage of the FE Plus version. I am surprised there isn't more Lo CA evident in the bokeh or more generally. I also think the bokeh is pretty good from f/2. Definitely performs better than I would have expected. Looks to me like a pretty decent lens from f/2 and an okish lens a f/1.4. I am not in love with the corners really in any of the shots, but the centre is quite decent.
To me it does provide a serviceable option at 28mm and a pretty good deal, although if I got the lens I would still be hoping for a better 28mm. I would probably go with the Leica M 28 f/2.8 pre-Asph version III or IV which can be picked up for less than $1000 and seems to be a decent performer on the Sony A7 series especially stopped down. It is of course a lot smaller, but this 7 artisans lens does have the faster aperture if that would be something you would need or want and the centre performance isn't too bad wide open and pretty good at f/2.
Steve it maybe due to my hood vignetting. Only time I took it off was that BB building 3/4 series. I have to go out and shoot more without the hood issue

Bokeh also sees better on some preliminary shots of Bastian's on the FE plus version. He's touring exciting places shooting at the moment. I'm looking forward to his return so we can really see the difference. I have some hope that the FEplus will be both a couple of stops sharper in the corners, and have rather nicer bokeh in the peripheral regions. But we'll see!
Let me try closer. Infinity and Big Bronco which is about 30 ft away very minimal . Let me look at my center test. I was about 6 ft away. Maybe I can pick up on something. I can go try some closer shots tomorrow. I知 a little baffled too. I thought for sure there would be
As David said I am currently touring through Scotland.
I could also not detect field curvature but the corners still need some stopping down to look decent.
An FMer from Germany volunteered to send me his Leica version so I hope next weekend I can compare both side by side.
Generally:
This lens is way better than it should be for the asking price imho.
At f/1.4 it is already quite contrasty and resolution is sufficient for placing your subject off center.
Bokeh in some environmental portraits looks really quite good to me.
In an earlier post I wrote that I was interested in the 7Artisans 28/1.4 as a fast alternative to the Zeiss Biogon 28/2.8 that I知 currently using on an M10-P. But an image included in the preview at 35mmc.com shows that the lens obstructs between 20% and 25% of the viewfinder area on a Leica M camera. Rather than purchase the FE Plus version for use on a Sony A7R3, I think I値l forgo the extra stop and stick to my Zeiss Distagon C/Y and ZE 28/2 lenses. (And continue to pray for the GM 28/1.4 that will probably never arrive.)

Good news. I値l try some more right now. Going to shoot more without the hood issue
I知 thinking of keeping it. It痴 really not a bad lens at all. Just curious what this FE version does. If it gives us a extra stop in the corners that may sway me
Bastian if you can vignetting seems heavy. Can you check
Also where is your infinity. I知 trying another adapter today

I am using the latest Hawk's factory adapter and adjusted it for infinity to be at the hard stop.
Is the lens block focus or does it have a floating element? I don't know.
Maybe it doesn't even make a difference.
Vignetting I did not check yet, will try to get a sample tomorrow.

Genji, you have both the C/Y and ZE version of the 28/2? As a ZE owner I've always been curious to hear what someone who owns both thinks about the differences between them. Everything I've heard has been hearsay.
As for the 7Artisans, Bastian's words sound very encouraging, and Guy's tests look promising as well. I'm hoping for that chimerical 28/1.4 GM, too, but if the 7Artisans can render well, it's cheap enough for me to give it a try.
