Sony A7r III Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Sony FE 2.0x, 1/4000 f/5.6, ISO 400
Wow, Stefano, Great Stuff!! The Riii, 400 and 2.0TC are working well (not to mention the skill of the photographer!).
I was tracking this guy (Cattle Egret) around the Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL, a few days ago, watching him catch large grasshoppers.
Sometimes they would fly out of his mouth when he was trying to re-position them, but most of the time he was able to get them down.
Here are a couple of shots.
All shots are from A9 w/ 100-400GM and 1.4 TC, @ 560 mm. and 1/1250 sec, F10.
ISO was 1600 - 2000

These are awesome Tony. With the 2x, what do you use for a focus mode/sensitivity setting? I am having a harder time with it than a 1.4x
Going back in time to my first Sony FF, with my old, adapted, Canon 400L
The 400L was a great lens, but very frustrating trying to get good wildlife photos with manual exposure.
Great images again from this combo. Since I now have the 400DOII with converters myself, I am taking a closer look at the Sony A9, because Sony seems dedicated to this camera with the roll out of firmware updates that keep improving AF.
I already have the Sony A7rII, but don't expect much from this body with the 400DOII and converters, since Sony have completely dropped support on this body (they probably don't feel that the hardware is worth it). I could also trade the A7rII in for the A7rIII, a body that does enjoy ongoing support through firmware updates.
Do you ever feel the urge to try the A7rIII with the 400DOII + 2.0TC, just to see what the greater resolution will do IQ wise?
