Yes, I realize it is designed to only fit those lenses but it may fit some third party lenses if the rear element is recessed far enough.

It does not fit the CV 110. Most of the 3rd party lenses that the Teleconverters fit are the adapters like dumb ones and apparently the latest version of the Metabones Canon FE to NEX.

I know the 1.4x fits on the Rokinion 135f2 and works well. Or at least did. I don't have that lens anymore

Thanks for running the tests. The new CV 110 appears to be just a tad sharper, but it also has 10mm additional focal length. Amazing how the Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit, a 1987 design (30 years old), still holds up compared to a 2018 design. I think that I may prefer the Leica colors better and my copy from what the Leica technician told me when it was serviced for a CLA that I had a particularly good performing copy. I expect that I will continue to use mine, and it is more flexible for my purposes including using it on my Cambo Actus with my A7r cameras.

The CV 110/2.5 may work with a Sony teleconverter (1.4x or 2.0x), if one adds and extension tube (10mm or 16mm) in between them.
Basically the extension tube's inner hole needs to be modified to be wide enough to allow the teleconverter's protruding glass to pass through....The benefit would be longer working distance and higher magnification. The negative would be a slight IQ loss and inability to focus at infinity.
I have not tried this but will give it a try and let you guys know if it's even worth it.

Hi Fred,
OK, if an extension tube was or could be modified. You had indicated previously that none of the extension tubes that you had tried, nor those that I had tried in their stock form would not allow for the front protrusion of the teleconverters to pass.
I am not in the market for this lens. For casual flower shots I prefer using AF-C with my Sony 90mm. However, Camera Quest has a used one for sale for $899 right now. I am tempted but my head tells me I won't be using this lens much.

I will try it out. I have a bunch of these tubes laying around.
As I already own a CV 125/2.5 in my Nikon kit, I’m not likely to purchase this lens. I am interested, at the same time, in what others think of Stefano’s comparison of the two lenses. Is there any particular benefit one offers over the other in terms of color, rendering, etc.? Also, does anyone expect or believe a Z mount is coming?

Hi Michael,
I would expect that Cosina would first want to recover its investment in the FE mount version of the lens. Sony has a flange distance of 18mm for the FE camera mount and Nikon Z mount has a flange distance of 16mm (this is and will require changes not only to the mount itself but taking the length into account). My guess is that it will be sometime before any of the 3rd party makers will be offering lenses in the Z mount and the new Canon R mounts. They will be monitoring the success of these new systems before they start to tool up to make lenses for these mounts. It is and will be much easier to adapt SLR lenses and M-mount lenses to the new Z and R mount cameras for sometime.
Also neither Canon nor Nikon have made their lens-body protocol available for 3rd party as Sony have, so to enable aperture info and auto mag with MF Cosina will have to figure that out
Thank you, Rich. This makes sense. I find it interesting, on a related note, that it was widely believed that the CV 125/2.5 was shut down to make room for the Zeiss 100 Makro. But, now Cosina’s back again with another macro in a similar FL... is this because Tamron is manufacturing some of the Zeiss glass for Sony? (Please forgive me if I’m way off track here, as I’m working from something I may or may not have read...)
I own the A mount CV 125mm also and was looking for CV 110mm until I read the reviews. The biggest difference for me is the bokeh as 125mm has the round 9 blades which gives very nice round bokeh stopped down vs the 110 has 10 straight blades which gives you the nice stars stopped down but also the angular bokeh with some round vignetting cut offs in the corner. I used the CV 125mm more for portraits and some macro so I prefer the round bokeh...

Thank you for pointing this out, Serhan. I hadn’t considered that part. I enjoy my 125’s bokeh greatly, particularly as I’ve started recently trying out the lens for cityscapes and portraits, especially now with EVF on my Z7. Still, I can appreciate the smaller size of the 110.
There is not much size saving with 110mm as 125mm is smaller but you add the adapter to 125mm. Here is comparison shot from Cameraquest:

No mod required since the tube's opening is really wide and allows the FE 1.4x's protruding glass to pass through. (see image)
However, I don't recommend it as it does not let me take a picture!!
I think the Sony 1.4x extender has some algorithm preventing the camera to take a picture with unsupported lenses...
I tried it with a bunch of lenses and the camera was unable to take a picture.
