Will, does it work on your D3, or D700?

Hi Laura!
Sure does, funny the D3's 10 fps seems a lot faster/more solid than the D500's.
Might have to shoot with it some this week and post a grab or two.

Thanks Will, looking forward to the grabs. If I ever get dug out of the mess I'm in, I'll look into grabbing one of these.

Little AF practice after some minor dock tweaks,
this time with the D810. Handles like the D500 now.
Rio Grande Bosque @ Tingley

edit: what I meant to say...the zoom handles like it's on the D500
instead of the slower AF of the D810.

60-600 mm 🧐 for whom? 10x zoom for pre amateurs ?🤪 i think a lighter 200-600 will be more logical ; sigma CEO did you hear me😝🤓

I'm sure Sigma cares what you think I sure don't. This zoom is
making me money. It's better than my 200-500 and the 150-600 Sport
I recently sold. Wide open at 500/ 600 it's sharper, I can't emphasize that
enough. Mine pretty much lives there...the other FL's are a bonus!

How many times used it below 100-200?

Your logic is not shared by 'pre amateurs' like me (never knew I was a pre amateur but I don't even want to know the meaning, nor do I care)

There's nobody outthere buying a slow 60mm lens with this heft and bulk but it's awesome to have this possibility built in one package.
FYI my daughter shoots this lens too and it's the best telezoom around at the moment better than the highly praised enthusiast amateur 200-500, other Sigmas and Tamrons in every aspect with a lot more useability by its wider range.
YES there are scenario's where one does benefit from this 60-200 focal range.

Will shows here solid work with this lens and if you're not able to assess that this way well.... 'nuff said

Will,
This is interesting that it changes the way the body reacts, Is it the lens or the dock tweaks..or both

Hi Gary
I tweaked the AF speed via the dock. Primarily use Group w/ D810/D750/D500's
and have found a slight shift off center (depending on the direction of the action)
to all but eliminate misses. The 60-600's AF speed is closer to the 500 f4 prime now.

@trenchmonkey: What tweaks did you use?

AF-Speed settings for "Custom1" or "Custom2"?

Any other like focus fine tuning or was your fine with factory values?

thx

Wolfgang

Welcome to FM, Wolfgang
The zoom was sharp right out of the box with multiple FX & DX bodies.
Just adjusted AF speed settings and left any OS options alone. I don't use it.
Focus limiter in the middle position as seldom shoot anything within 6 meters.

Same as mine?

Did you set yours to speed over smootness?

Will,
As always, your BIF and Rodeo pictures are always sharp and amazing. And you always get good lenses, while for many of us we encountered bad lenses once in a while.
Regards,
Hans

Thank you kindly, Hans. I've endured a few clunkers over the years with Nikon.
When the 80-400G came out I had 2 copies that weren't sharp at 400mm. So I
returned both and waited a bit for a refurb to show up at the Nikon Store. Winner,
winner...chicken dinner. 1st 200-500 was a bust wide open at 500mm, the next 2
I scored were perfect. I have been fortunate with my Sigma Global Vision lenses,
zero issues on multiple bodies (not the norm if you follow the threads) Clean livin'?!

@trechmonkey: thank you for your answer. I use the same setting.

Mine was fine out of the box too.
