Got to try one (Canon mount) over the weekend. Wow! AF speed/wide open IQ @ 600mm impressive.
Many new/improved features over the 150-600 S still push/pull if desired but now locks at a myriad of FLs.
If anyone here has the Nikon mount feel free to kick off some sample images 'til mine's delivered on Sat.

I’d consider it, but damn that weight is just to much for my liking for a an f/6.3 zoom. I know it’s lighter than the 150-600S, but that’s a lens that needed to be f/5.6 to warrant that crazy weight. My 200-500 is at the upper end of what I’d consider for a zoom. I would have been more interested in a 60-600 C version with a improved build over the 150-600C and would gladly pay another $500.
I wonder why Sigma competes with its own lenses?
The added focal range is offcourse a nice addition, but everyone I know using the telezooms is using it at the long end.
Sigma is clearly targetting another 'kind of photog'
I'm curious about that lens as well. A true do it all lens that can actually perform at all those focal lengths is a lofty goal. A 4x zoom lens is a compromise, a 10x zoom lens is a pile of compromises.
If it can actually do what they say it can, there may be one ending up in my camera bag at some point.
Too heavy for a slow lens for my tastes. I'm on the same page as PP with this one and with Photozack as 10x zoom is going to be compromised somewhere.
Also there is the thing where I swore to never buy another Sigma lens after they disabled compatibility with my 1.4 Canon TC and my 150-600C without any mention in a FW update that was said to improve AF.
But everyone has different needs and I hope the lens works for you TM.

Understood. The majority of my sales last year (eagles, sandies, pheasant IF)
were with the D7200 and 150-600 Sport. Of those 90% were at 600mm >f8
Sigma now makes their glass to be shot wide open (or slightly stopped down)
My D500 was busy with the 500 f4 VR but have since acquired a 2nd. So the
60-600 will have the better AF and 10fps my previous Sport rarely enjoyed.
Having a native 600mm lens in gorgeous NM light won't be slow nor heavy
after humping around the 500 f4 all these years (I'm 70) So excited for Sat.

A quick few: no tune/no dock...will throw 'er on the D500 next.
Thrilled with the build and handling, AS tripod foot is outstanding.
(Nikon could learn from them) Too many new features to elaborate

I'm a sigma fan, don't get me wrong but I've been burned too many times buying their lenses only to for them to "beta test" a design and then improve on it shortly after.

Hey, Douglas! Yes, especially at distance/edges. Bests my 200-500 at all FL's too.
Crazy how they can make something like this. The D500 gets the call tomorrow for
the DX test. Tried the D810/D750 today, really like the OOF BG's I've been seeing...
Right out of the box it delivers, I'm so pumped!

sold my 150-600 S after a year and a half of use for barely a $200 hit.
Not worried as this will probably pay for itself during the time I own it.
I don't sell much gear anymore, rather hoard My Sigma 50-100 f1.8
135 f1.8 aren't going anywhere. I'm still teaching so the cheaper zooms
ie: Nikon 200-500 and Sigma 100-400 are great tools in the field. I wanted a
handholdable native 600mm back and I got it. Then there's those other FL's...

Thanks for your firsttime impressions Will, looks very promissing for my daughter. (She wants a 200-500 or 150-600S at the moment, but to be honest I'm not really thrilled by that lenses as a whole)
This lens however looks like it ticks all the boxes too me.
Some questions hope you don't mind.
-Did you allso shoot the lens at its max aperture and how did it perform?
-How does it perform shooting at infinity?
-How is AF speed compared to the other long zooms you own(ed)?
-Do you have to adjust focus while zooming?
Nice shots, impressive that Sigma can make a 10x zoom that has that level of quality at 600mm. Will be following your posts as you update your experience with it.
