Trying out the 28-300 via FTZ for a trip this weekend. Wish I had something longer & better but was able to borrow this from a local shop so I won't complain too much.
What a bunch of b.s. That can't possibly be a Z6 and a $600 lens with an adapter because haven't you listened to the geniuses on websites and on YouTube videos? The Z6 doesn't focus very well, the FTZ adapter isn't perfect. you need to spend a lot more money on a decent lens and it's crazy to not wait for the second iteration of these cameras because Nikon "blew it" the first time around. Oh, and how many images did you lose because there was no second slot?
Your photos are a better ad for the Z6 than anything Nikon has done to market the camera. They should just take your photographs and say "A Z6 with an F-mount lens from 2017 made these photos." Fantastic in every way!
I've had the same problem, and had not thought about that C3 setting,
Thank you EyeSpyEagle wrote:
Nice work, as always Floyd.
What I've done to overcome this challenge on my Z6 is increase "Standby Timer" (setting c3) from the default value of 30sec to 5 minutes. I can be upped even further, but so far 5 min has been a tremendous improvement.
Thanks! This combo is really good and the price can't be beat.

I took the Nikon Z6 on a recent trip to Japan, I was previously using a Leica M10 but sold it for this. Sometimes autofocus and new tech like IBIS is just so useful.
I think I have too many photos to post, but feel free to check out my blog post https://alanyuen.exposure.co/japan-1 , I had the 14-30 F4 , 24-70 F4 and the 35mm 1.8s
So yesterday, fiddling around with the new Z6 for the first time. Whip out the FTZ adapter. My Sigma 50mm 1.4 pre Art won't focus. My Tamron 17-35 won't focus. Of course, my screwdriver lenses, like my 80-200 and 300 won't focus (I knew that going in) and it turns out all my MF Nikkors are not chipped so no focus confirmation.....
I am looking at this FTZ and thinking "Why did I buy you?"
The 24.70 is lovely though, and this thing shoots in the dark.
I figured I'd try the Tamron 150-600 G2 on the Z6, but surprised to get just an error message when I tried to achieve focus with the lens mounted. After a little research, I discovered Tamron had released a firmware update to address the issue with this lens on the Z series bodies. After a quick update, it worked as expected.
Z6, Tamron 150-600 G2, 460mm, 1/2500, F6.3. ISO 800
