But, doesn't it indicate that without VR = 3 axis, compared to with VR = 3 axis. Kinda sounds the same to me (although I'm not sure what the added benefit of roll axis is).
I was wondering if anyone had any experience to how effective the diff's were / weren't.
Nikon VR is only pitch and yaw. In body IBIS adds roll to it and other IBIS axis are disabled when you attach VR lens.
Not sure if 3 axis with VR lens is more effective than 3 axis IBIS with a non-VR lens though (likely).

I guess I'm not understanding how without roll ... pitch & yaw would be 3 axis, and then adding the roll axis would still be 3 axis also.
Something about my pea-brains says 3+1 > 3 or 3-1 < 3.
Nikon VR (lens) is only 2 axis (pitch & yaw). Roll axis is from the Z body. With a non-VR lens all 3 axis (roll/pitch/yaw) come from the Z body.
2+1=3 and 3+0=3. Not sure where your math comes from.

Thanks.
Okay, so it isn't the "addition" of roll to make 3 axis, it is the re-assignment of pitch & yaw from the IBIS > Lens VR ... still retaining 3 axis, just coming from different source. Gotcha. Thanks.
Spring has arrived very rapidly in Vancouver. Sunshine + breaking temperature records in the last week accelerated the bloom of everything. Canada is not only 'The Great White North' and polar bears.
Have been shooting the Z6 since December for paid and personal work. Its quite an improvement over the D750 I replaced, and has handled everything I can throw at it from sports to events to landscapes and more.
Thanks, Josep,
A demonstration that I need to learn a lot about the new system.
I tried to use the AF-C with auto-area AF for BIF but I was not able to keep it in focus.
I love this thread! So much that I bit the bullet and returned to Nikon after a stint with Sony using all three base versions of the A7 series. I would’ve stuck with Sony had my kit not been stolen. Given the opportunity for a fresh start I decided to get the Z6 and 24-70S. I still have all of my ZF and CV glass with F mount so I got the FTZ adapter as well. Can’t wait to put it through its paces!
