I ordered directly from SmallRig and paid extra for the FedEx option, receiving one L-bracket and a strain relief accessory in 2 days. Being quite satisfied with the product, but not in as much of a hurry to obtain one for my second Z body, I then made two separate buy-it-now free shipping purchases from eBay seller “hdjoys” for an L-bracket and FTZ adapter support. Turns out that was SmallRig’s eBay handle, as the two items arrived in a single box (identical to the first one) 17 days later. I did notice in the tracking details that the package spent 2 days in Chinese customs and 6 in US customs. Hope that helps.

- Feb 9th: ordered L-bracket
- Feb 11th: L-bracket shipped
- Feb 13th: L-bracket shipment at Origin Post, last step before heading across the ocean
- Feb 24th: L-bracket shows back up at China facility, at Origin Post step once again
- Nothing since.
- Feb 27th: ordered FTZ mount adapter
- Mar 4th: adapter shipped
- Mar 7th: at Origin Post
- Mar 17th: adapter shows up state-side in Chicago
- Mar 20th: adapter delivered to my home
I emailed SmallRig support earlier this week and they asked me to wait at least 15-30 "working" days and that some parcels take a "little longer" than that. Today is working day number 30. This is going to be a pain in my ass I think. I love having this adapter on my desk that is completely useless. ...Show more →
Mine took 9days from eBay order date to delivery date.
So today I intended to use my new Z6, I photographed several doctors in set up scenes. I had Dynalite strobes, set off from the camera with pocket wizards. The viewfinder of the Z6 remained pretty dark during shooting and I wasn't sure how to tell the camera to brighten the viewfinder like it would if I was using a Nikon flash. I switched to the 850. Being new to mirrorless I feel pretty stupid, appreciate any help. Thanks
Dave
I've read through this entire thread now and I'm hoping someone can give me a reason not to buy this and ditch my D750. I'm on the fence on the 24-70 as I mainly just shoot with primes. Thinking I'll get the body and the 50mm but I'm also a little on the fence with it as well as there isn't much I've seen on it browsing here and other sites.

I made the jump and I'm not sorry I did. I have the 50 mm and I think it's terrific. I went 'body only' and kept my 24-120 and use that with the FTZ. If I had it to do over I'd probably get the 24-70 kit. The attached is just a snapshot and was cleaned up in PhotoShop (she had a messy face) but you can see how sharp the eyes are. I'm really diggin' the 50.
The only good thing for "me" about the D750 is the sensor, I say this after four years of use...The Z6 lets see, 3.6m dot EVF is a beauty, smaller and lighter than D750, same materials as used in D850/D5, the ergo the camera feels great in my hands. Built in VR, dedicated AF-ON button, 1:1 ratio finally, 273 AF points cover 90% of the frame, touch screen, AF point selector, USB charging, a real silent mode, touch screen focus, pinch zoom, I can use the ring on the lens to change exposure comp, that my friends is da bomb....and much more. It's not perfect, there are a few niggles as I mentioned before, and the lens line is slooow to come to market, changing out the one FTZ adapter I own constantly, is a PITA.
So we need to get an extra camera's for HS Senior shoots and wedding shoots. We are shooting D750's. Can't afford a D850. I really like some of the things i'm hearing about the Z6. One thing that scares me a little is in a youtube review someone said it was horrible at backlit photos. And on our senior shoots sometimes we have no choice but to do a shoot at lets say 4 or 5 when in an open field when the sun is still up and harsh and have to do a back lit shit. We have a good strobe so lighting wise it's okay. My only fear is if I get the Z6 it will struggle a lot during these shots because of what the person in the youtube video had said. What are some of your experiences with the Z6's AF ability with backlit shits?
I have a couple specific Z6 questions that I have not been able to find answers for yet and hoping somebody here can help.
1. Can you have the back AF-ON button custom set to a different autofocus mode from the main AF mode that is set for the shutter button? On my D850, I have the shutter button set for Group AF for birds in flight and my back AF-ON button set for single point AF for shooting a perched bird.
2. Does the camera have the ability to shoot TIFF files? If so, can you shoot an HDR in TIFF?

How much difference is there in stabilization between:
A) Z6 + Z Mount native lens
B) Z6 + F Mount (with VR)
C) Z6 + F Mount (without VR)
From Nikon's website:
A 5-axis optical VR system is built right into Z series cameras for up to 5 stops of image stabilization when using NIKKOR Z lenses.
For the first time, you can experience fast aperture NIKKOR primes like the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED or AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED with up to 5 stops of 3-axis VR image stabilization. NIKKOR lenses that already have VR, like the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR, get the added benefit of roll axis for a total of 3-axis VR.

Yes, I read that.
But, doesn't it indicate that without VR = 3 axis, compared to with VR = 3 axis. Kinda sounds the same to me (although I'm not sure what the added benefit of roll axis is).
I was wondering if anyone had any experience to how effective the diff's were / weren't.
