I'm still really skeptical of their claim that you'll get a U.S. model if you pay extra. U.S. (Really North Anerican models sold through Canon USA) are not distributed to Asian dealers in the first place. They would have to get them from North American distributors, and at North American pricing, just to offer them. And even if they did that, there's little chance it would end up cheaper than what a US discount dealer could sell them for.
This is why I think the whole idea of getting a "USA" model from a Hong Kong dealer is nonsense.

Keep us posted! I'm really curious to see what happens. Its also possible that they eat a few sales a year for those who fight their way over the obstacle course because 99% take the "upgrade" offer or buy enough profitable accessories.

I've also read articles that say there is no way to tell based on serial number if you have an import vs usa model so the whole sales tactic of "you're not going to get canon support because you'll have an import serial number" seems fatally flawed...

Canon could easily log which blocks of numbers went where, but by all accounts, they don't seem to be denying service anyway.

i notice they have bumped the price by $200 in their latest ebay ad. How can this dealer have such high feedback? I wonder if this is because when a buyer is refunded, the deal is technically null and therefore, no feedback can be rendered?

Keep in mind that when you sell something on eBay, there is a selling fee equivalent to roughly 10% of the selling price. So if the $1929 price was already close to or below their cost for the camera, letting it go for that price would mean losing an additional $190-ish dollars when their selling fees come due.
Of course, occasionally eBay runs “sales” on selling fees — such as ‘list up to five items today and pay no selling fees when the items sell’ or ‘today only, selling fees are cut in half for anything listed.’ I believe there are also selling fee discounts for high volume sellers. But unless this camera body happened to be listed under a rare zero fee deal, they may be facing the prospect of losing significant money. I don’t mention this to elicit sympathy for them — I’m just speculating about why they are so reluctant to give you the deal you paid for and why they may have increased their price on newer 5D4 listings.

Is that true? I thought feedback could be left even if the money was refunded. I’ve certainly left feedback on fully-refunded items in the past, though I haven’t had reason to recently.

I called deals-all-year today (twice) and the 2nd time I got someone who said that the tracking # is valid and that - it showing up as label only - is a bug on the UPS side...

Color me skeptical. I mean, my experience with them was fine but they definitely run a business model that is...less than stellar in terms of ease of transaction. Sounds like they're really putting you through the ringer.

At this point, I don't have much to lose. I'll just wait and see if it arrives. Today, the guy told me it shipped tuesday but yesterday the guy told me it would ship yesterday evening. In any event, if it truely went out UPS 3-day select, i should get it by monday or tuesday.
It's a good enough price that I may just try to force their hand and make them send it even if it's late although today I see another MK IV listed by a different company for $1925 !

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have purchased from them several times before. Never had any issue. Yes the items are grey market, but the price is worth it to me. I have had them call about getting extended warranty through them, but after I declined the item was shipped immediately with no issues. Perhaps they made a mistake on the pricing and actually sold it lower than they are able to get it for all of a sudden hoping you will just cancel or upgrade? Best of luck and I would be shocked if you didn't get the camera based on my experience with them.

I was enjoying this less when I had a photoshoot scheduled for sunday which I wanted to use it on but at this point, I'm pretty sure it's going to arrive well after that, if at all. I don't mind having virtual money tied up in it.

Yep, I agree. Just get it out of your head for a while and step away from the computer until Monday and then check to see if there is legit tracking showing. If no tracking by then I would cancel and move on.
Whenever I order any serious toys like this I'm the same way and constantly watch the tracking and wait and wait.
It'll drive you nuts.

i guess I don't mind waiting another week or so. At this point, cancelling seems to be a win for deals-all-year and not me so I want to force them to send me what they advertised.
