I was able to get a brand new USA version through Greentoe from a Canon authorized USA seller for $2,400. Not quite $1,900 but still a nice discount from $2,799 + tax ($3,000+)

Deals All Year has always called me to ask if I wanted an extended warranty, but only once and then it shipped. Last time I ordered from them I called them directly, "I'd like to order the 5DsR for $XXXX as per your website with no extended warranty or anything extra."
It sounds like they have a rogue salesperson selling their extended warranty as a bogus USA upgrade. It's not uncommon for this to happen in sales: a company having to discipline/fire someone doing unauthorized things to make their quota or bonus. You really should call and ask for a supervisor. Let them know this bogus USA warranty thing is about to send them back five years to when they had negative eBay feedback.

For what it's worth, there is literally no physical difference between the North American model and the international model, other than (possibly) the battery charger. They're made in the same factories on the same assembly lines from the same parts. But the ones sold through Canon USA or Canon Canada have legit North America warranty cards.

did that include tax? I don't see that deal is being such a great one considering that canon was selling refurbs for less than that last year and used ones are still going for less. The deal I got was extraordinary because it was lower than what used USA models were going for...

warranty cards don't mean anything though. Mine came with a 120v charger

I agree -- as I pointed out earlier in the thread, Canon service has never asked me for a warranty card when I needed warranty service. Just a dated receipt was all that was required.

got the camera, fired it up. It had the latest firmware and had shutter count and mirror count of zero. So, assuming it's not defective in some other way, seems like a great deal.

That’s not good if they’re doing that. Only difference would have been the charger and the menu system preset to English. Like others have stated, Canon honors the warranty regardness. When I bought mine, Canon even honored the warranty extension promo that was running at the time — automaticallly when I registered it on their website.
