Looks pretty even in the center, the Loxia might have the slight edge in the corners. About what I expected. It's encouraging to see just how sharp the GM is in the center wide open.
Exactly . Raws are up now so check them out. Im moving on to just the Sony center test. Loxia is done for now. I may in the coming days compare that more and I know Fred will as well.

Pretty amazing. So the GM 85 and the 50 1.4 are really good at 1.4 but the best aperture on both those lenses is really about 1.7/1.8. Here there is a very slight difference between 1.4 and 1.6 and I mean slight. Sooooooo
This just won king of the 1.4 glass in Sony native mount. I really cant see much of a diffrence

More trouble . I need to go hide boxes. My CV 35mm 1.4 classic just showed up
Been there myself. I've hid so many boxes at this point not sure I can find them all. Besides, my wife has already taken all the best box hiding places

Flare test. Sun is in the frame im aiming right at it. Now there is a little when stopped down. But I honestly think this is well controlled. Need to test more but not bad watch EXIF

Great to see the Big Bronco test for this one and more importantly how it fares against the Loxia 25 (1.5 stops slower). It puts things in perspective. So much negativity over on the other GM 24 thread with too much flare, too much purple fringing, low contrast corners, or even that it's not sharp enough (reporting bias I tell you) that scare some people away. The GM 24 is about the best total package right now in the entire market within this focal range. So unless you really want that smaller size/weight or the nicer sunstar on the Loxia, flare and PF shouldn't be the make/break factors for this lens. The only thing I wished was that it's a 28 instead of a 24.
I'm curious to hear about your observation on the AF speed Guy. Mine is dead silent but about the AF speed of the ZA 50/1.4, might be a tad faster.

Yea the speed of AF I would say is normal. Not rocket fast but it does lock in nicely. Im on AFC and it seems to be nailing everything. Ive been on manual doing all these tests so need more time on that.
One thing I dont like is on manual is no hard stop for infinity which is kind of a pain but it does have nice feel for fly by wire. So Im not throwing it n the dirt with disgust. Im a feel manual focus guy but I can get by here on this one.

I find AF speed quite quick. When on the dance floor, you usually don't have to focus from MFD to infinity, but from 1 to 3m, which is really fast.
I think the lens to be fantastic. For me it is the right compromise regarding IQ, size and weight!

So got to get on a another project but I will be testing it more along with my CV 35 classic as well. Fred should be posting tomorrow as well so looking forward to that.
But a brief side bar. Seriously consider buying this lens if you have not already. I think its the best GM lens both in value to performance levels. I dont say that stuff lightly. This a keeper no question
