I have been avoiding to do that and instead worked with wider lenses, that has more DOF from the beginning and also stopped down more - but I think it is time to join the focus stacking club.
I used to have a Leica Q which I used ... a LOT. But for a two lens setup, for instance coupled with a 50mm or a 75/85mm, I felt it was neither meat for fish as we say in the Netherlands. But that has everything to do with my difficulty of really working well with a 28mm lens. The Sony 24mm GM is a wonderful lens and it is giving me that shallow depth of field environmental views that I liked so much about the Q, but it is also a tad wider which makes it more useful in my book....

I am looking for a relative light, high quality allround AF lens on a A7RIII body. Sold my Leica Q2 recently and was very happy with it but my Sony collected dust, I wanted to use a tiltable screen and the ergonomics match better on the A7RIII for me. I guess the 4mm more WA are not that critical vs. the 28mm Summilux, also the GM is a stop faster. Anybody here to report how the switch would work when coming from the Q2? Would eventually the 25mm Batis be a better choice? I love the Zeiss Pop, contrast and colors but the rendering of the GM might be simply better... ...Show more →
Sorry, still learning the quote thing....

That's simple - 24 mm fov is way more popular than 20 mm. Not to mention the Sony G 20/F1.8 mm is more like 19 mm in reality. That being said both lenses are great.
I also like the image rendering of the GM relative to the 20 f1.8. Great saturation and contrast.
