p.25 #1 · Voigtlander 21mm f/3.5 Color Skopar Review

I have an MX too - haven't used it for a while but won't be selling. I'm coming off the back of a couple of years of predominant film use. Have sold a Mamiya 7 kit to fund the change to the RIII - the feel of the CV lenses has helped me overcome the separation from the Mamiya (though I won't be missing walking around with the 10 shots per roll limit on my mind) . Will be going out with the 40 this weekend.

It's been awesome - totally love it. Bought it for a steal about 3 years ago from Robert (the guy who founded fujix-forum) and everything has always worked beautifully. Even if the battery dies, it still works, thanks to being all-mechanical except for the light meter.

I've contemplated selling it - it's a more "rare" black one - and going medium format, but realistically I know it's about perfect for me. About as small as a Leica, big and bright viewfinder, runs like clockwork. I know I'd *baby* anything more expensive, and wouldn't always want to lug around a MF rig,

Good looking combination - mine's a silver one and I have just used the K mount M 28 2.8 and A 50 1.7 on it:

I've never been able to get pleasing results from those lenses on digital (Fuji or Sony) though - apologies for further topic drift

Now you need a 12 or 15. The rule is at least 4.

Than you get into the Lens Whore Club

Well I bought one and have been using it the last couple days. It is very impressive for it's size. The problem for me is it is so close to the 24GM. I usually never leave the house with out that lens so I think my "GAS" has gotten the better of me. Not the first time that has happened Do I want it, yes. Do I really need it, no. I think I will list it in the B&S and give a fellow FM'r a deal. It is only 2 days old. I could return it for a full refund but then I'm sticking B&H with the loss. Doesn't seem right since it is a perfectly good lens. It's just me changing my mind. So if anyone doesn't have one and wants it now's your time

Went running in the snow and cold this morning with the A7RIII+21CV. It's so small and light. Throw it in the pack and you don't know it's there - not so much with the 21 Lox.

I have both the Sony 24 and the CV 21. I use them differently as the CV is the small travel around the globe lens. I don’t feel the Sony 24 is that lens. Love them both keeping them both. Hold onto it for a few more days see if it grows on you. It really is nice having both

Klumbus didn't look like that when I was growing up there (in the 50's-80's).

Nice photos!

A few quick shots with mine. Still learning how best to focus it. Seems in most cases, just focusing to the infinity stop and stopping down to f/8 or so yields excellent sharpness most everywhere, unless you're up close. Focusing to hyperfocal distance yields good center, but a bit of softness at the edges at infinity. Focused at mid-range distances, it's sharp in the focus plane even at wider apertures, to the edges, and even OK in the corners...quite nice. Love the size. I think I'm really going to enjoy shooting with this lens. There's a bit of barrel distortion,

I have also joined the CV 21 club!

Took first test shots today. Then the pixel peepshow began. And it was fun :-)

Of course it doesn't have the super resolution of my CY 35-70 3.4 or my Bokina. But that's to be expected from an ultrawide. It's simply nicely sharp, I can't see a "midfield dip", the corners are really OK, nothing to complain about.

What really strikes me with this lens is how uncomplicated it is in use.

Simply set aperture to something between 5.6 and 8, focus on something not too near, and you get consistently sharp photos from edge to edge, from front to infinity. So easy! The Sony 16-35 f4 (I sold it to get the CV 21) and also the Olympus G-Zuiko 21mm f3.5 I shortly had were much more "picky", somehow I managed to get many unsharp sides and corners (not to mention the AWFUL manual focusing of the Sony zoom).

This convenience and "friendliness" of the lens, paired with its small- and lightness, makes it a no brainer as a companion for my trips.
