I am really enjoying the stunning images you post all the time.

I am doing fine, turning 73 tomorrow.
I had my first COVID-19 vaccination at the end of March,
the second one is scheduled towards the end of April.
So far so good! Knock on wood.
I remember your post that you sold your FE 400 when you were getting your FE 600.
The FE 600 clearly is a better fit for most of your photography.
I am happy with my FE 400, can shoot it handheld for a few minutes only before it feels too heavy.
Handheld I prefer my FE 100-400, including the TCs. No problem at all.
For the FE 400 I use a tripod with a fluid head from Manfrotto that gives me better control than a gimbal head.
For handheld shooting I am thinking of getting the FE 200-600 and hope it’s not too heavy, including TCs.
But first I need to get the A1 after Sony addresses the EVF/eye sensor issue.
How about you getting the A1? I find a correctly working A1 irresistible.

First, please accept my early wishes for a most enjoyable and memorable 73rd birthday tomorrow! Very glad to hear you’ve gotten your first shot and have the second one scheduled.
Many thanks for your continued encouragement! I remember how long you patiently waited for delivery of your 400GM, so I’m glad to hear you’re so pleased with it and are finding it to be a great combo along with your 100-400. Should you decide to get the 200-600, I believe you’ll be quite happy with that one as well. Lucky for us to have so many great choices in the Sony system.
As for a1, I suspect it will be a while before I take that plunge. Very happy with my pair of a9 cameras and would rather spend the photo budget on travel. I hope you’re able to get your a1 soon enough so you can try out that BEAF on your lovely hummingbirds 😀.

It’s a wonderful lens indeed, especially wide open or close to it.
I think these images were shot at f/3.2.
