Nope. To big and heavy to use as a 35mm lens alternative with other cameras.
And unless it's surprisingly cheap I'm not in the market for a cool standalone rangefinder camera to carry around as my sole body. Plus, for all it's coolness, I'm a bit worried about controls (though with dials for all three major settings, and if relative movement AF point setting works well on the pad with your eye to the EVF, maybe it'll be OK...)

Fred, Thanks for the thread!

I think using the camera LCD for edits is going to be very tricky to say the least.

Camera lacks a tilt LCD (I would actually prefer a swivel LCD in a Rx1 III).

Heavy and big.

Ugly (though this is manageable).

Sigma flash- No, no interest.

Overall, no.

It's not for me but I was surprised and impressed with some of the features and design decisions.

The weight (800g) and lack of a joystick kills it for me. However, I like the mechanical dials and the software innovation and hope Sony takes note.

Love the idea of the internal memory. Hopefully that part trickles down to Sony. Looks like a great viewfinder...but the weight is just too much. Much rather look at the latest Fuji MF rangefinder.

The ZX1 looks like a nice camera, but my Zony 35/2.8 lens does nicely. So, no ZX1 for me.

Wow, not a single vote for the ZX1 here as of right now. Has the Zeiss marketing group failed to identify the market situation and what would be selling well?

+1 on the software side. Ya, even Zeiss can do it, then Sony needs to re-evaluate their option. The Sony's app idea at first seemed like gimmick but it grew into something people loved. Worth to take another stab at it.

Perhaps Zeiss failed to notice that the RX1 series success was based on a great lens + small size.

A better software stack is welcome for sure, and Lightroom builtin is nice idea, but I see this as a second camera for me, and betting it will be costly, and is too big/heavy in that role.

My thoughts exactly. If I were to add another fixed lens camera in the future, it would be another rx1 type compact camera.

I would love to want this camera, but it seems to solve problems that I don't have. I sure hope that they market a version with pdaf, EVF centric viewing and more control surfaces.
Maybe this appeals to some cellphone shooters.

On the official thread, I've read a lot of criticism of the ZX1's modern design but imo, Zeiss is just keeping it consistent with the design of their current lines. (Otus, Milvus, Batis, Touit)

I haven't voted yet. I need more info, more evidence and a price. I however very much like the concept of what Ziess is doing here. To me the ZX1 is the most exciting of all the newest mirrorless announcements to date. I would have been very dissappointed if the ZX1 turned out to be a Zeiss version of the Sony RX 1 model.

We've all enjoyed the latest greatest in sensor tech, next step IMO is to modernize the UI workflow with instant and ubiquitous distribution process enjoyed for some years now by millions of mobile phone camera users all over the planet.

The Zeis ZX1 may or may not turn out to be the most popular camera or finest phtography tool ever made, but I do think it is at a minimum, a reasonable and practical first step into what has made mobile phone so successful and popular.

P.S. Too bad its a fixed lens camera only. Maybe if this platform takes off, we will see an interchangeable-lens version at some point.

The EVF has almost twice the A7RIII's resolution, it's equipped with a 512 GB SSD inside and probably has the best 35mm f/2 lens in the market!
I just can't see how Zeiss could sell this for much less than 4K.

Let's remember that it is much bigger than it seems, almost touching the sensor.

Perhaps they are gathering feedback right now....

It would be nice, if one could choose the raw converter, particularly if library functions are involved here. I use C1 not LR, so that sort of kills the LR part in the ZX1, for me at least.

While I'm not a big fixed lens 35mm FF body type of person I think the design here is really forward looking. I think we'll see increased in body functionality like raw converters, other functions associated with tablets and phones and increasingly sophisticated use of touch screens in the future. With Moore's Law processing power and energy efficiency are just going to get better and better. I think internal SSD's will also be there. I also think the standard dials somewhat new and ironically futuristic. With thunderbolt 3 you could even attach a display and periperals to your camera if it had enough power, who knows? Maybe with terapixel sensors a good fixed lens and a crop based digital zoom would be fine?

No, I am happy with my A7R3 & 35ZM combo. I imagine the camera will be premium priced, too.

The limiting factor here is that Capture One does not have a mobile version available. The Zeiss camera is probably running on Android and shoots DNG according to the spec sheet.

I'm a maybe on the camera with the biggest question mark being price and if it comes with some sort of weather sealing (I hate dust getting on sensors for point & shoots).
