Thanks for the samples. How do you like it so far?
I see low CA, high contrast and great resolution at center/mid at f/4.
Thanks, Fred! I like it a lot so far but I need to shoot more in good light (good weather) to get the full picture. I was especially happy with yesterday evening's low light city results. It works pretty much as I expected from IQ perspective when comparing to recent Voigtländers and should pair well with my native family of CV lenses (35/40/65 as of now). I'm happy that it doesn't need to be stopped down much at all for good results and I think it has nice pop on close-up shots too. Handling and the small size/weight are really nice.
I don't plan to use 21mm as my main lens, but expect to bring it along when shooting with my CV 40/1.2 or 35/1.4 classic as a 2nd lens for wide-angle opportunities whereas I would have previously only gone out with a single lens. It should not add much noticeable weight.

Those night samples look very good, thanks!
Let's try to meet on the 21/10 so we can do a side by side comparison and really get a good idea of how it compares with the L21.
Yes, I'll be happy to meet somewhere in Tokyo on 21/10. I think we can use PM to agree on details afterwards. The weather forecast for that weekend looks better than what we have now, so hopefully there will be some sunshine
Fred might beat us with an earlier comparison between the Lox and this CV though as I suppose he'll be receiving a copy for review/test in a few days now that the lens is in stock at CameraQuest.
Mine is on its way from http://www.fotokinolinders.eu/ ,I think they just had them in today and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Same price as my preorder at CVP.com. 😊 So probably tomorrow I can mount it. Looking forward to it. 😎
Well, based on those pretty good looking initial images from Juha Kannisto I just placed an order with CameraQuest. We'll see if my luck with sub-par lenses applies to this particular copy or not.
Even if it's on par with my 21/2.8 Lox wide open/stopped down, the smaller size and weight will be greatly appreciated.

Ugh, yeah I can't do it right now. Slow cpl weeks of work due to rain. Only way would be to sell my Laowa 15, and that's not gonna happen. Will wait until a used (or returned review copy) pops up.
Getting prepared for some winter over-night ski-ins and lower weight and volume in my 21mm is nothin' but good for me. 16/3.5AI + 21/3.5FE + 35/2.8FE + 85/4 ZM and that's a pretty darned light weight ultra-wide to short tele high quality kit to stick into a backpack and then hoist up onto my skis.
Fuuuuu... I didn't expect that good performance, at that small size and reasonable price! But, perhaps this could solve my "wide angle problem", heh. If I only can get away with the slow f/3.5 aperture for low light, that is...
