This looks tempting, especially if it matches the sun-stars of the other CVs. I have nothing wider than 28mm now and was thinking I'd go UWA to 15 (either the Laowa 15/2 or CV15/3.5 iii), but the copy variance in the CV15 is scaring me, and I don't really need f2 since astro isn't my thing, so the more compact size of a Voigtlander over the Laowa or Loxia is appealing. For a first true landscape lens (and I do as much street shooting of architecture and street scenes), maybe 21 is wide enough for me. A 230g corner-sharp 21 with beautiful sunstars without the QC issues of the CV15 would probably do it for me. Do we know expected release date?

This should be a fun lens to be looking at for sure. I would not mind having one myself. I’m 15,25 right now but a 21 would not hurt me at all. Like it more a 20 so have to see the actual focal length.
For a travel kit in CV only one could go 15,21,40or 50 and either the CV 65 or a small 85. This adds another option to build on
I think it would also be nice is CV made a 28 f/2 for Sony E mount. They had one for Leica M, but I would like to see them upgrade the design and quality. I think 15 & 21 are naturally followed by a 28, and then a 50.
The pic shows the Voigtlander 110/2.5 APO Lanthar FE Prototype and the 21/3.5 FE prototype.
Best to All,
Stephen
I can forgive some wide open optical sins for a lens that small on my A7RIII (re 35/2.8 Zony) as long by f/5.6 is great all over the image (no persistent soft corners please . . . ) and has great flare/ghosting/sun-star characteristics.

Maybe they get wild and make a 1.4 and keep it small the way the 40 and 50 1.2 are...
The Japanese version of that page says 52mm filter thread. I used Google translate on the text. Strange. I can't find an image that shows the front of the lens either, so no way of knowing for sure.
I am currently using a combination of m-mount versions of the Voigt 21mm f/4 and 25mm f/4 on my a6300 for street. Both are tiny, great MF feel with a little focus tab under but it makes it still not tiny enough because of adapter.
I am waiting for this to be released and check if it balances well on the a6300.
PS. I must have a problem with 21mm's: I have the Voigt 21mm f1.8 and f4, the Loxia 21 and also the 16-35 and now this? Fair to say I am considering selling the 1.8 and f4 for quite some time just didn't have the courage to do it yet.

Those m-mount versions (21/4 & 25/4) are very nice on APS-C but not so nice on FF due to sensor cover thickness. I had an LTM version of the 25/4 (Snapshot Skopar, optically same as later versions) and it was really nice on my NEX-6 but the corners and edges were nasty on A7r. I understand 21/4 is pretty similar. I also had the 28/3.5 and 35/2.5 and both were rather bad on full frame Sony cameras. Would be nice if they released even more small e-mount Color Skopars optimized for Sony sensors later on.
I also had the VM 21/1.8 earlier but I sold it when I got some Sony WA zooms. I didn't really need the fast aperture on it and it was a bit heavy on adapter so I'm expecting to be much happier with the new 21/3.5.

I LOVE my Skopar 25/4. The corners are pretty horrendous on FF, though. It's on the b+s board, but I'm still waffling. I know I'll miss it, but realistically have to sell something to fund the 21. Hrmph. rhawidantas wrote:

how bad is this m-mount 21mm/f4 on FF? I am thinking of buying either a 15mm f4.5 or the new 21mm f3.5 on one hand or upgrading from a7 mkI to a7r mkII + used m-mount 21mm f4...
any thoughts?
