Thanks everyone for taking the time to post in this thread. It's a bit of information overload and I'd welcome input on the following:
Is there a consensus on how the Z6 or Z7 perform with the Leica M 28 Summicron ASPH (v2), 35 Summicron ASPH, and 50 Summicron? I own and use these three lenses with a M9 Monochrom, and am looking for a complementary body that would provide color output as well as a superior live view experience than what Leica offers via the M10.
I have tried a few of the Sony A7X variations but found the results disappointing. Hence I'm looking at the Nikon Z series, the new Panasonic S1, and maybe a used Leica SL.

I personally never tested those few lenses you mentioned. However out of these few, 50cron will not be a problem what so ever. 35mm Cron will be depended on which version you have, latested ASPH will perform better on Z so is your 28cron.
You actually don’t need individually test those lenses to be able to draw informed guess on performance. There is no mystery here that sensor stack will affect lenses designed for different platform. For example, the further away with the aperture from sensor, the less performance penalty it has, or the less steep angle hit sensor corner, the better performance for the lens. That is also one of the reason Nikon and Canon pick 55mm mount size to have bigger last element to have light more directly hit on the sensor.
I believe there are some test on latest 28 and 35cron on SL on LUF, they seems perform very close to M if not slightly better. I would guess they will have good performance on Z as well.
I do hope some can post more M glass samples or experience here.
Now, share some images.
My newly acquired Lens is Nikon 85mm AF 1.4D. I said that this is THE BEST Nikon rendering glass I have seen in other thread. Unfortunately, it won’t AF on Z7. However, focus confirmation works and confirmation is very accurate. Only a few day with it, I can confirm I was right about it and I just love it more than any other Nikon I used. To my surprise, It is sharper than both ZF 85 and 80lux WO, which is a nice bonus for me because It is not the reason I buy it. It has lots of CA but rendering is so beautiful and smooth. I think I slightly prefer it over 58G as it is just sharper WO which is minor complain I am having with 58G.

As Michael said, I am pretty sure a 50 sum micron would work pretty well on the Z cameras. The 50 cron rigid worked very well on the Sony a7 series cameras and the 50 cron AA worked nearly as well on these cameras as on a Leica M. The 50 cron vIV worked pretty well but did perform a bit better on a Leica M. I am pretty sure all of them would do well on a Z camera.
The 35 cron Asph was one of the most problematic lenses on the Sony A7 series camera. I would worry about its performance on the Z cameras, but frankly I think the CVM 35 f/1.7 is a better lens and so inexpensive and it work wonderfully on the Z cameras. I also think that at 35mm you could use the cron vIV pre-Asph as it worked pretty well on the Sony cameras.
The 28 cron Asph (v2) I would love to see the results from. On the Sony it certainly was better than the v1, but still it was quite a bit behind its performance on the Leica M cameras. I think this is one of the harder lenses to predict performance on the Z cameras. I would expect the 28 cron Asph (v1) to not do well on the Z camera. It did quite poorly on the Sony A7 series cameras. It is likely to be better on the Z cameras, but I would expect it to still have some problems. The v2, however, might do pretty well.

FWIW, I can confirm that the non-CPU registration for my CV 125/2.5 is recorded in EXIF as 135 and 2.5, respectively. I don’t use the green dot, so haven’t every thought to look for it. I’ll try to post some photos here as I’ve enjoyed shooting this lens on my Z7 since I punchased it on release last year.

There were 20 non-CPU lens slots initially with Z7.
Adapting dumb AIS or Leitaxed R glass to any Nikon DSLR, you don't need any electronic contact but you still can manual select non-CPU slot, the EXIF will at least record which focal length and what is maximum aperture. Basically the same function you would expect Z with FTZ and any old AIS glass without contact.
The problem here is EXIF record nothing with dumb adapter even you manually selected non-CPU lens option. This is unnecessary omission for such a simple request.

Yes, the latest firmware update allow AIS glass EXIF recorded through FTZ. but there is no linkage between lens aperture and body so you won't know your shooting aperture but only max aperture of your lens. It still is better than nothing. Z7's confirmation is slower and often fail compare to d850 but I feel it might be more accurate. D850's focus confirmation is already feel less sure/slower than D810 or other SLR I used but more accurate, there must be some trade off going on here in term of speed and accuracy.
A few simple images with 50S. I quite like its rendering. This is the type of glass I wish every manufacture can focus on. It has smoother bokeh than most 50mm f2 out there or compare to Nikon's own design. This is one of biggest benefit I see Nikon get from this huge new mount. I would only expect more good stuff from now on from Z. you don't see funky corner stuff like older design have. Here is a direct comparison compare 50S with my favorite Sony glass Zony 55. You might need google translate if you want to know what he is talking about but images worth thousands words. I don't realize Nikon 50S has even slightly better bokeh than Zony but I have to say I really like the handling of Zony.
I like the long focus throw, balance is better than I thought it would be on the Z7, focus is easy with zoom in the EVF (though I do get lazy). On the down side, FL and aperture are not captured in EXIF, outside of the non-CPU lens registration (at 135mm). I also have the CV 40/2 and 58/1.4 (latest versions), though am thinking to go for some VM glass like the 40/1.2, especially with Voigtlander’s announcement of the VM-Z adapters.

Guys, will I see the difference in IQ between A7RIII and Z7 if I only use Leica R lenses
(the widest being 19mm)? I know Michael is very experienced with R lenses, what do you think?
How much practical difference is there in using Z7 with adapted lenses vs A7RIII?
EVF? LCD? Manual focussing?
I'd also shoot it with my Voight 125mm macro, any Z7 advantage for macro shooting?
I'm ready to get one of those and with Nikon everything would be new to me plus
I'd have to buy several Novoflex adapters...

Good find! Interesting collection of lenses from yodobashi. The samples for the 12mm Heliar (VI) on the Z7, that supposedly doesn't play well on FF digital cameras, are impressive - regardless of any PP. Wouldn't have expected that...

Those are some serious gear porn. Maybe I should create a webpage like that as I have even more interesting stuff to put on Z Z is a really fun system for alt user.

That would be wonderful if you did. Since I screwed up my A7r years ago by being an early adopter of the Kolari V1, I have been sitting on the fence regarding FF mirrorless (e.g. Sony vs Nikon).
The only consideration is my dozen or more high quality e-mount adapters.
Ready to jump off the fence soon.
Would love to see some images.

I made my choice now but not a commitment forever. If sony come up something better than Z as a M platform, I will just use Sony. But now, I have my firm preference.
Here are some random stuff with 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH. This is my favorite Leica M glass for its flaw/glow.
75mm lux is no much better You need develop certain taste to appreciate those old Leica glass especially compare modern textbook stuff. (IMO, they are priceless classics)

Wonderful! The picture of your daughter holding up a copy of Ansel Adam’s In the National Parks is such a beautiful, enigmatic portrait, whilst also demonstrating the unique quality of the Summilux-M 75’s rendering.

I finally used my Z7 for something that did not involve scanning film.
I shot this in jpeg (accounts for the blown highlights) to see how the exposure would be.
Interestingly with my camera, if I shoot in jpg then the final output exposure matches what I see. When I shoot RAW the final output is way underexposed unless I move the histogram all the way to the right.

Z7, 7Artisans 50 1.1 @ 1.1. I think, but I may be mistaken.
Shot in NEF/RAW, forgot to push the histogram all the way to the right so this final image was pushed +5 in LR!
Aaaaaand - no banding! So there's that.
In this lighting the EVF has a severe jello effect when in magnified mode to obtain pin point focus. The image viewed seems to slowly wobble around - something I don't see in good lighting. Makes me miss my D850 some more..

What ISO? From what I read from Jim Kasson there are a couple factors. Higher ISO will mask banding and Nikon's baked-in banding correction is inconsistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It could be it worked here, this time.
