Did everyone see that Cosina Voigtlander announced an adapter for E mount lenses for the Nikon Z mount? This means that we should be able to use all Zeiss Loxia and Cosina Voigtlander E mount lenses (an other manual focus lenses like the E mount Laowa, Mikaton, and 7 artisan lenses) on the Nikon Z cameras. The Sony and Nikon cover glass doesn't seem to be that different (maybe .7mm) so I expect these lenses to work well on the Nikon cameras.

Yes, but I'm also hopeful about the Techart adapter that includes at least some level of electronic interface. It would be nice if the EXIF would be populated and the details of the lens be set for IBIS if I was using my Loxia.

Yes, Techart one will be a more interesting one for potentially retain EXIF. I like that M to Z adapter though.
There are many latest news show that future Z glasses such as 24, 20, 85 f1.8S and 14-24/24-70/70-200 f2.8 along with mighty 50mmf1.2. Bad thing is they all look pretty big, I guess good thing is you will expect nothing short of excellence from them. Nikon's engineers must enjoy the freedom Z mount give them over tiny F mount.
I am only interested in 14-30f4 for now. I am definitly not a fan of how Nikon's Z lenses' look

Yes, the future Z lenses look larger than expected, but it's hard to tell without comparing side-by-side with another 'known' lens. Weight is also an unknown factor...Nikon's G primes for instance weigh less than you would expect based on their size.
I have both the 14-30 and 24-70/2.8 on order and based on what I've seen they will suit me fine for both size and weight. I'm not sure about the 70-200 though based on the pictures. I've been told that's it's close in size to the F mount 24-70E which wouldn't be too bad.
Regarding the look of the lenses, I actually like them more than the F mount. I was never a big fan of the gold trim. Just a matter different tastes I guess.

welcome to the thread. Please keep sharing us with images and info. WATE should perform flawless on Z.
No worries I will do my best to share some stuff. The Z7 is incredibly versatile for me - looks like I can use most Leica mount lenses with little to no issues. I had a sweet spot for Nikon since I bought my first FM2 from my own money in 1983. Of course I still have it.

Michael, great series of shots !!!
The WATE worked well on the A7 series so I would assume the WATE would be ideal on the Z6/7's. There is something special in the rendering of the WATE that I loved on the A7rII albeit a high entry cost

Hi
It's been a while since I posted my last pictures. I'm enjoying a lot the Noctilux 0.95 on the Z7.
This was taken with the Hoya R72 infrared filter. The Noctilux provides enough light to shoot hand held (with IBIS, of course, at slow speeds), otherwise it would be almost impossible, and even so the ISO was 5000 or 8000 or so. But I'm not willing to convert the Z7 for real infrared photography, it's just a bit of near infrared fun...
Another near IR shot in the same place, but changing the subject distance and perspective (I also swapped red and blue channels) Holm oaks by Felipe Rodriguez, on Flickr
And finally a known landmark in my hometown, but shot "hidden" under a tree branches. Foreground bokeh is as good as background one with the Noctilux: Triana Bridge by Felipe Rodriguez, on Flickr
The images may suffer from jpg compression, since I uploaded them first to Facebook, sorry!

I saw it and I am interested in the E-adapater for Loxia and Voigtländer lenses but even more curious about the close-focus adapter for M lenses.
Speaking of Loxia, has anyone read or heard anything about Zeiss and Z mount, I can't recall reading anything about new or converted lenses for the Z mount from Zeiss?

The E mount adapter has some appeal in that I could use my already shimmed VM-E and VM-E Close Focus adapters. I'm not sure at this point if I would eliminate the a7xxx line from future consideration so keeping the E mount adapters and using them on the Z just keeps things extensible. I don't have plans to buy any native E mount lenses to use on the Z however (regardless of how appealing as the 65mm is ; -) nor Zeiss in Z mount. The M mount is still the most portable for me... Definitely nice to have all these new adapter options though!

At this point I am pretty sure I am going to get the Z7. The E-adapter allows me to use my e-mount lenses while I acquire a set of Leica M mount lenses that I think will work well on the Z7 and gives me some insurance in case some of the M lenses I think will work well do not. Right now from the images in this thread I think I will go with the following M lenses for the Z7: CVM 15 f/4.5 III, Leica M 21 SEM, CVM 35 f/1.7, Leica M 75 f/2 AA, Leica M 135 f/3.4 APO.
I have similar lenses to each of these in E-mount that I can use if I am not happy with the Leica M lenses on the Z7. For example, it seems the Leica M 21 SEM isn't quite as good on the Z7 as it is on the M10, but I also have the E-mount Zeiss Loxia 21, which ought to work wonderfully on the Z7. Similarly, if I am not happy with Leica M 75 AA, I could still use the Loxia 85. The only lens that I don't have a similar E mount version of is the 135 and that is the one that I am most sure will work well.

Same here-ok, their design is more "modern" than the G- and E-era Nikon glass, but somehow my first thought in seeing those lenses was "ugly"... I like the IQ and features they offer (programmable ring), but I think e.g. Cosina/Voigtländer did a better job in making their lenses look desirable (or even Sigma with their recent design). But that's a purely personal taste thing, of course. I'd just hope they'd make manual focusing with these a more satisfying experience, moving the focusing ring on beautiful old MF glass is just so much more fun. (Let's see how the new Noct will fare in that regard, however I will never own one. )

To the ones who have experience with e.g. the Voigtländer 40mm f/1.2: Would it make more sense to get the M-mount version or the E-mount version with respective adapters for shooting with the Z6/7?

Took the Z6 to London last week, had a lot of fun with MF Rokkors. This one with the 45mm f/2. (Nikon should fix the EXIF for non-CPU lenses to actually show the correct FL and max. aperture...)

I think their new 24-70f2.8 version looks better though I have to say they look very similar to Sony GMaster maybe both are aiming more practical design but I think Sony offer more than 9 aperture blade with finner grounded ASPH glass.
24-70f4 and 35/50f1.8S are not ugly IMO but doesn't have premium build and feeling. however, I have to say their price is very reasonable for their performance. I am very happy with the purchase so far (zoom and 50mm), I might add 35mm down to road.
Z glasses really offer another level of performance at lower price point and size IMHO compare to equivalent F glass. I wold only expect more good thing happen in the future with Z.
As for Noct, after I saw Youtube demo of that glass, I can for sure write it off from the list. I was seriously thinking get it actually before. However, look that barrel size and full 360 degree turning means it is not piratical at all in field for portrait, too slow and awkward. I'd say this is really just a statement lens suit only for very limited users' cases. I feel sorry there is disconnection between good engineering and practical field usage.
