Jim Kasson just published his comparison between Z50 and OTUS and Zony55 here
His finding match my short experience with this lens.

Love these shots Joakim !!! The 50s is definitely on my radar
This lens performs admirable in harsh lighting conditions wide open, below is a 300% crop of some thin branches with direct (low) light on them. The withe overexposed spots are ice drops/patches and even at 300% the color fringing isn't that obvious. This is without any applied lens profile or any other adjustments from CaptureOne Pro.

I must confess I'm of course tempted by the new Nikkor 50, I'm pretty sure I'll end buying it (once my bank account recovers a bit). But there are so many lovely 50mm lenses! Thanks for taking the time for such comparisons. I love all those lenses, but perhaps the Z50 bokeh is a bit worse than the rest. For me it's hard to choose between the two Zeiss and of course the Cron. I've never owned one, but I do love how they render (that's also true for the Summilux-R E55).
BTW, I've got a mint Nikkor AF-S 85 1.8G at a very good price and it works like a charm with the FTZ adapter. I'll post some samples if I can (insanely busy lately).
50S is a very nice lens. My reservation about it is focus by wire, no matter how good implemented, it just never feel as good as real focus ring.
85mm f1.8G perform beautifully on Z7. I can post a few samples. It is hard to get poor short tele lens performance now days.

I found this test to be outright mesmerizing. The 50S is an unexpected treat from Nikon, and would complicate my choice of first native lens for Z if I were in the market. I remain committed to the 24-70S—at least in my head! The rich supply of alt 50s (some of them quite characterful) means the 50mm FL is already addressed from my shelf: CZ P50/1.4 C/Y, Yashica 50/1.4 ML, 50/2 ML, Leitz Summilux M 50 v2, Elmar M 50/2.8 v1, Elmar 50/3.5 LTM RS. Of course, none of these have AF.
Thanks for continuing this excellent thread.
Optically, it is hard to fault 50S in any way. However, being a Nikon summicron at f1.8 and 50mm, means you need make content more interesting than rely on Lens rendering to make images shine. If I have to put some flaw: It has minor Onion Bokeh but not bad at all and of course focus by wire.

Yeh, Its CA performance is really surprise me. I wonder how this compare to Leica 50mm APO M at 1/10 of price.
Here are a few 85mm f1.8G random life images with Z7. I think I sure will enjoy Sony's Eye AF, but don't think it is that important at all given I hardly miss any focus for the way I shoot family images.

Now a few bird images with 300PF and 1.4X III
I like the fact if there is any mis focus or vibration, it is operator's error. I don't need worry Z7's AF capability. It is so reliable even with TC under this shooting condition. I give up use 300PF and TC on Z7 for BIF. However, I do feel native 50S focus noticeable faster than 300PF. I think F's AF performance is good to excellent but not up to native lens level. I hope firmware update can continue improve this. It definitely meet my requirement for my camera and it is way better than other system I am using/used that I don't have much complain

My guess is like against the Otus, it won't leave anything wanting against the 50AA. Rendering will probably be a bit different and maybe even smoother than the AA. It seems the last few years have really unleashed something from lens designers - an ability to truly fine-tune lens performance. Sharpness, contrast, color, rendering quality (very subjective, of course). The 50S is maybe the most neutral 50 I've yet seen. On one side compared to the 50/1.4 Planar (a rendering style I like a lot) and the Cron, it's a bit boring, but like you say, its neutrality means a transparency that doesn't distract from actual subject content.
Somewhere here on FM there was a link to interviews with Nikon's lens designers and about their new software that allows them to design lenses with a very fine balance (or bias) of the previously mentioned qualities. I suspect Nikon is not unique in this ability based on what we're also seeing from Sony, Canon, Zeiss, Voigtlander, Sigma, Tamron, etc...
Just like how Canon's new RF 50/1.2 is very appealing to me, the 50S and 35S look very promising for Nikon's upcoming mirrorless lenses. If I had the cash, I'd probably get all of the FF mirrorless systems just to be able to use the great lenses from each system.

Nikon Z7 with Leica 75mm Submicron all at f2 while walking around Salem, MA USA one cool morning. Adapted with a $40 USD Gabale adapter (that fits nice and snugly).
I wish the adapter could record the lens focal length, etc. but not with this one!

I agree there are many special lenses introduced, the optical performance is in niche Leica territory. Especially new Nikon S and Canon R glasses. I don't think there is a AF 50mm lens as attractive as 50R L1.2 to my eyes. As mentioned many times, I also really likes Canon R's color output. There was a recent three way comparison review between Canon R, Nikon Z6 and A7III at Mobile01. It surprises me that Canon also have best AFC keeper rate that lead both Z6 and A7III though at lower frame rate. That is just telling how capable Canon is.
For Z's lens map, I think Nikon should introduce 50mf1.2 and 85mmf1.2 along with 35mmf1.2 first. I have no doubt their future f1.8S glasses will be awesome as 35S and 50S. However, they need some passion and statement lenses to differentiate their mount and Z system. As good as 50mm or 35mm 1.8S they are, I have to say the body design is too modest.

Just found this thread. Is there any way to cross post to the Nikon forum? Would think there are a lot of nikon users that would be interested in this thread even though some of the lenses being used aren't.
Just picked up the Z6. This thread is a bit scary for the wallet.

No offence but the tone on the Nikon section (and other brand specific sections) are many times much harsher than here on the Alt forum so I prefer it if this thread is not crossed with the Nikon section.

I will occasionally notice something, the light, a part of the work flow or perhaps a detail and grab whatever camera/lens is at hand... Not a comparison, just different moments.
