Lately I've been setting up a blog with the main focus of educating other photographers. It will include beginner level articles and tutorials as well as more advanced tips and techniques. I have a knack for IT related topics and feel that there could be a really nice integration in showing photographers how to save time by incorporating some tailored IT approaches. It's just getting started but I'd be honored if some of you wanted to check it out.
It took me a while to start using Instagram. Before that, I mainly shared my bird images here on FM. Now that I’m experimenting with video, IG has been great for adding music to my stills and clips. It also lets my friends and family to conveniently see some of my work. While personal websites can address some of the drawbacks of IG, I’m not sure they attract many viewers unless the photographer is exceptional. An Instagram account can guide viewers to your personal website, where they can view your higher-resolution images and videos in more appealing formats. Currently I don't have time or desire to maintain a website so IG and FM is it for me.
Despite being a bit of indulgent gearhead, most of my meaningful pictures have come from some of the most humble gear, namely:
Panasonic LX3 compact
Sony RX10 IV
Sigma Merrill DP2
Maybe I need to think about where these images will end up. I suspect many, like me, consume their images on iPad/iPhone, so shall we need all that resolution?
