Thank you very much, protikh. Much appreciated.
1) I am *very* happy with the bokeh and OOF rendering, it is excellent considering it is PF lens. This lens has pro grade results written all over it. I think it is an amazing lens, a real marvel.
2) if you own those lenses, only you can decide which is best for your purposes. What are your priorities? Do you want a small lightweight long lens? Or do you need a small lightweight mid tele lens to complement your 600? Too many variables in what people require.
Thank you Lance!
A lightweight lens with the similar sharpness of 200-500mm but better AF is very desirable. In situations where agility is important, a lens like the 500pf can potentially get me shots otherwise impossible.
Looks good Lance! How high have you pushed toe ISO on the Z7?
Loving my 500pf, had it since end of September we had a hurricane or I would have had it earlier. We were evacuated for a week the day it was supposed to come. Sent it to my friend who owns LensCoat so he could make the LensCoat and TravelCoat templates for it.

I bought LensCoat directly from them. Thanks for the info George. Only issue with my 500 PF is my lack of time to shoot with it
I received my copy from Berger Brothers in NY today 5 days from ordering for delivery in Cal. So far from a limited shoot of some vultures across the way, it appears to be what I had expected.

Awesome!
I was told just a week ago from Berger Bros that they get 5 in and are sold right out, but have no clue when the next batch will arrive. If I don't get mine by late Nov., I am cancelling and waiting for the used market to hit.

Thank you very much, George. I have pushed the ISO a few times but no photos noteworthy.
I am not sure whether I will get a Lenscoat for it but I probably should just for protection.
Got to try out the tiny 500 PF and the TC-14E III with my D850 last week. This combo performed very well, with the gripped D850, the AF isn't as snappy as it is with my D5 (as expected) but still pretty darn good for BIF despite f/8 max aperture. Naturally I would compare this rig with the much more expensive combination of the 400DO II + 2XIII and the 5D4, which IMO was just unusable for flight shots of any kind despite its equally great optics.
The lens performed very well converting very few opportunities to images rather than misses, especially given the tough conditions (long distance shots, heat shimmers, varied BG etc.) I had tried the 200-500mm (now sold) at this location before and it did poorly when it came to raptors in flight, even without any TC. This lens is on the money
stay tuned for a full review soon.
shot with D850, AF-S 500 f/5.6 PF + TC14-E III ISO 800 f/8 at 1/3200 sec hand held processed with C1P
Lance, the little yellow bierd is gorgeous! And I'm really liking the files coming from the Z7.
I'm not glued to any system and am looking forward to the next generation Z7.
