It's a great photo, but for me, the arm tattoo just doesn't go with the rest. If her other arm was natural I might have tried to turn her to the other side.

If I recall, she didn't have a tattoo on the other arm but switching her to face the other way was not as pleasing aesthetically to me, as the way it stands, she's facing towards the sun.

That being said, I somewhat agree that it detracts a bit from an otherwise pure image. And I say this having a tattoo myself

The arm tat is who she is, I like it! I think it might be too 'crisp' but I love the photo

Awesome feedback. I am always torn when it comes to tats in photos, but really appreciate your insight.

I see what you mean by "crisp". I love bringing out detail in the water, perhaps some selective softening would go a long way.

If you moved her to your left and you moved to the right, you could have flipped arms and still had her opened up to the sunset side. I"m not saying that was the right thing to do. When people get tats, esp that big, it's usually pretty important to them, so I would have positioned her the same way you did.

In this picture, I don't like that she's looking down. I can't really see her.

When I am shooting these destination weddings, I have so little time with them that I don't always get to pose them or orient them with total free will. She was standing there waiting for the groom to get mic'd up and loved the composition.

Had I moved more to the right, I would not have had both sides of the bay (where the trees are on each side), so that may not have been an option. I took another with her looking at the camera, but preferred this one a bit more.

She does! This was actually her first time on an airplane, and she was blessed with an incredible evening.

I would crop out the trees on the right, they offer nothing positive IMO to the composition. This would move her to the 1/3 right position and lose a bit of sky, it would make her more of the focal point.

As it is she is not centered or enough to the right, it just looks odd.

I tend to think the trees on the right balance those on the left, but appreciate your input.

I also tend to bend (and break) the rules often. As for the rule of thirds, I typically stick with that one, but occasionally don't (sometimes on purpose - haha).

Anyway, it was a stunning evening, I wish I had more than 45 minutes with this couple, but that is typically all I get.
