One more sample of the 10-18mm sunstar:

Sorry, no info on EXIF.

This is an intriguing lens. It could replace my 12-24 as I usually use the Loxia 21, it is rare that I use the 12-24 longer than 18 anyway. Any word on sharpness or filter use?

From the trail in the sky it looks like it might be a five-shot blend? Also some flare on the right hand side? Sunstars look a little long to me. I like the shape but not the size.

Agree on the 5 shot blend, but hard to know if too long as we don’t know the aperture.

The sunstars looks ok but my main concerns are distorsion correction (zoom with no exif data) and the unpractical use a polariser/square filter system.
Considering the FL range this lens could have been perfect for landscape/architecture...

Is there a chance that Laowa could add a CPU in their lenses, like the ones found in the Loxias or Voigtländer FE lenses?

I doubt it's a five shot blend. More likely simply a plane with a blinking wing light.

I think it's amazing they got this zoom lens with only 5 aperture blades to render sunstars like this. Kudos to Laowa for their efforts.

I agree that adding a CPU for EXIF data would be ideal but I don't see that happening for this release.

I agree that these are nice sunstars. Remind me of the sunstars of the Hassy V lenses which also have 5 blades. If this lens delivers decent sharpness and across the frame sharpness at f/6.3 then it will replace my Batis 18mm in my bag and complete my 4 lens travel kit with the Loxia 25 and 85 and the Voigt 40 f/1.2.

I love my CV 12/5.6, CV 15/4.5, Lox 21/2.8 and Lox 25/2.4 combo though.
However, If the Laowa 10-18 performs well, it could replace three of my lenses for landscape shooting.

My landscape kit would end up like this: Laowa 10-18, Lox 25, CV 40 and Lox 85.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've been watching this Laowa 10-18 thread with interest. It's great to see that a manufacturer is communicating potential customers!

I agree with Luvwine and bellapete that it would be nice to have more information about filter use--especially if there's a chance that our suggestions might be taken into account. Apparently there will be a set of NDs, but there has been no word on polarizers. As others have said, a linear polarizer should work. And as we won't be able to stack filters in the back, a series of "dark" polarizers (like Breakthrough makes, but at 37mm and up to 10 stops) would also be welcome. This lens has the potential to be something of a holy grail for many landscapers, but it will be of diminished value if polarizers cannot be used at all, or if 150mm front contraptions are needed.

For a lens that's due to ship shortly, I find it strange that there is nothing about it on their website. Or at least I can find nothing about it.

Lack of CPU in these lenses keeps me away. Really nearly got the 15 f/2, but piked and played safe with the 12-24. As some one else said the 10-18 and the Loxia 21mm would be a sweet combination.

It's nice that they communicate with their customers during development. I'm not big on shuriken-sharp sunstars but lack of exif for sss (would use it handheld more often than on a tripod) and cpl use with the rear slot makes me hesitate and lean towards the 15/2 instead as a kind of fast alternative course.
Edit. Of course if setting sss at 15mm would work rather well for this 10-18mm zoom then that argument is void.

It maybe hard for me to give up F2 in the Laowa 15. One is for focusing reasons the nice bright F2 in the lens and just a nice fast aperture for city night type shots.

This maybe a add on more than a replacement

The Laowa 15 is also unique having a very close MFD. Like you wrote, the new zoom could be a great complement.
