All I was saying is your being asked to not mention the dealers name, if you can’t honor that request maybe you should not use there service. What benefit are you getting to mention it. Is it really that hard to follow what is asked of you. My hobby is golf and I play alone a lot and I’m only cheating myself not following the rules of golf. I could give a shit what you do and I’m certainly not policing Fred’s home. I just think this world is going sideways and I’m worried about my grandkids growing up in it. If used GT several times got some nice price breaks and recommend there service but I have honored there requests as well for no other reason than being asked not to disclose the dealers.

As much as I want to and, matter of fact, can answer your question about why we should be sharing our purchases, I'm not going to considering the brevity of the posts and with maintaining the good taste and propriety of this forum. Let me remind you that your rants have no rhyme or reason and you are just not understanding the concept here.

Does GT not want us to say that we got the camera from dealer X at price Y, or more broadly that we got it from dealer X?

GT specifically asks that customers keep the seller info private but SHARE the goodness that GreenToe is.

There is no mention of refraining from saying what price you got the item at.

I really see no reason to mention which dealer the items are coming from unless it's to perhaps express unhappiness with the service even then it's separate from GreenToe.

It's REALLY simple.

Far from a rant. But apparently it seems folks just can’t follow what is asked of them. My opinion I find it very rude. But hey do whatever floats your 🚣‍♀️.

With that I’m out of this thread. Waste of time

It's REALLY so easy to mislead others by quoting a not-relevant-to-the-discussion part of GT's FAQ section. This FAQ clearly says why GT doesn't expose who their retailers are and nothing about what users should or shouldn't do. If you knew how an online marketplace works or how affiliate programs with Youbtubers and whatnot are able to give out referral codes or how Amazon sells so cheap, you'd know any better. I'm sorry, you're way off base here.

I have gotten several nice deals from GT. GT asked me, in writing, not to disclose the names of the retailers, I respect that, as a courtesy. I have no problem disclosing the prices I got if I chose too. I don't necessarily view that as a formal agreement, but I honor GT's request.

GreenToe doesn't reveal the retailers and they also request the same from customers.

You must have never actually used the service then because they clearly state in their e-mail...

Hi xxxxxxx,
Thank you very much for using Greentoe to save money on your recent purchase xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

We wanted to reach out and send you a friendly reminder that while we encourage you to spread the word about your deal, it is very important that you never reveal the retailer name (even in private messaging within forums). So, please share the concept and the deal on forums, social media, and everywhere. But, keep the retailer name confidential.

Also, the retailer invoice will come in the box when the item arrives. Many people ask so we figured we'd mention it here so you are

Really, what does one have to gain about sharing the seller info?

This, it's just plain courtesy not a binding contract or obligation.

This is why sometimes we can't have nice things.

It is obviously not a legally binding contract BUT if they are asking you to not disclose the retailer then I agree with those that are showing respect to their business and not disclosing the retailer. I don't see why it matters for us to know the retailer anyways. Much more useful to know the accepted prices which could help us know where to place a bid on the same item. It seems they are okay with people disclosing the prices.

You don't have to question my credibility or track record using the service. I've been a long time user of GT and similar arrangements. Also, have in person contacts with several retailers and understand how this process works. All that's discussed here is what's wrong with sharing the dealer names. Simple answer is awareness about the platform and who fulfills the orders. An email from GT in the guise of a friendly reminder doesn't constitute policy, it shields them from explaining how they are able to arrange the price and delivery of the goods at the expense of the dealer who takes the ownership for both.

GT model will accept offers just like when you are haggling for a bargain price at a brick and mortar establishment but in this virtual scenario will do something similar to what a car dealership does when you let them shop around for a low interest loan. Who GT submits our personal and payment info is their prerogative but they'll get back to us with a discounted price on that date and time. Once the payment is done, the user and dealer are free to communicate about their dealings to whoever they please. One instance when GT advises customers to not disclose who the dealer is when there's a chance of another dealer complaining about why that order didn't go to them in the first place. This sorta puts pressure on GT to create a system that isn't biased as far as dealers are concerned. For items that are over hyped and undersold, the profit margins are so huge that lots of dealers are willing to cut deals. This is good for customers as well as for dealers and of course for GT. In the ideal world, GT would want high margin items to be ordered through their platform and they disperse the order to retailers who are looking for a larger pie of the online orders and this works to everyone's advantage. Where this model lacks is when customers run into serious service issues. So far GT has done a reasonable job connecting everyone but they have far less pull with dealers when it comes to making amends for bad customer experience which in the technical sense is not their problem at all.

here is the thing..it is a hypocrite practice among us. I remembered couple years ago when i recommend Greentoe, i was attacked left and right by the very finest members in here. They all saying oh, it is a grey/imported product, you can't return, too good to be true, fishy business..you named it, i've seen all. To the point, i would just say f-ed it. You guy want to pay retail, so be it.

People that never use the GT before wouldn't feel confident if they don't know who the vendor is. Now, when you share the vendor name, you got attacked too.

Those that already use GT now, let me ask you: Before you first using GT, do you believe in it? do you feel like it is too good to be true? do you want to know who is really the vendor? are they authorize dealer? all of those info will ease your mind before you use the service right? So there, that is the good reason for sharing the info.

First time use it in 2013. Order #2795, recent order 3/2018 and order #86003

5 years with over 80K fulfilled order..they're not going anywhere. They're growing thanks to our community. Don't be too tight ass on sharing the info guys.

FYI

I called my Greentoe vendor about the status of my A7lll order. They took my name and number and said they would call me back. They never did. They are now closed for the day.

Because I received an email from GT saying if I did not want to wait for my A7lll order I may contact them and they would cancel my order and "we will get it refunded immediately". I called GT phone number 1-888-840-0464 . There is a voicemail stating they are only accepting email customer service support.

I'll give that a try. I did once a few months ago and I had to email them twice before they got back to me three days later so we'll see.

When did you order? I was gonna order last week, and they said it's gonna take approximately 2 weeks after the release date for them to start shipping body only orders. Less for body + kit.

I agree. If they are asking buyers to not disclose the retailer, then that's essentially part of the deal. Buyers should honor that request. If a buyer doesn't want to honor that request, then they should not use Greentoe. It's a simple matter of respecting the process. Whether it's legally enforceable, I have no idea. But it's a simple request, easy to follow. I presume they have a very good reason for making it, or they wouldn't bother.

Greentoe is good for everybody, including dealers. Dealers are free to negotiate on price — but they can't advertise a price lower than the MAP. Greentoe effectively delivers a mutually negotiated price that is lower than the MAP. My guess — and this is pure unresearched speculation — is that Greentoe indirectly helps manufacturers too. If accused of price fixing, a manufacturer can say in its defense: "There is no price fixing because buyers and retailers are free to negotiate a lower price, and as evidence of that: Greentoe!"
