I have to say again, I've never used this service before.
I just signed up for it yesterday, and really, I know very little about it.
I'm hoping everything goes as planned with no drama.
Only time will tell.
I used them recently and it went great. This is a different situation though with this being in preorder status. I got my preorder in within the first five minutes of it going live so I should be able to get it in the first batch. At $1850 with kit lens that is a nice savings, especially after selling the kit lens, but there’s no telling when I’d get it...

If you need/want the camera right away, maybe you want to stick with the pre order.
Me, I have a lot of cameras and lenses to choose from. If I wait a couple weeks after everyone else gets theirs,
it's not that big of a deal.

I don’t NEED it, I just do this for fun. I have been without a camera for about a month already though since I sold my 5D3 so... That being said I put in an order with Greentoe. At $1850 or less for camera and kit lens (I’d sell it) is an awesome deal!
They will email you soon saying that the order was accepted by mistake, and that the retailer thought you were ordering the body only. They will eventually cancel it.

Anything is possible.
In a way, this wasn't my offer, it was the 2nd counter offer that I accepted.
So they didn't just offer this package to me once, they did it twice.
They would look a little foolish canceling it.
The offers went like this:
me - $1700
them - $2050
me $1800
them $1850
I am seeing a lot of the camera only offers going for $1850.
I'm assuming that the people on the other end can read, and didn't think that I was going to pay
$50 over the price of the camera by itself.
Then again, it could be that I was dealing with more than camera shop during these different offers.
Who knows.
Time will tell.

You Hit it right on the head.
The E Mail.
Hi Dave,
I'm very sorry about this but this offer was accepted by mistake. The retailer didn't realize that you were buying the kit and gave you the price as if you were buying the body only. If you're interested in the kit, it normally sells on Greentoe for $2049 but we can get the price down to $XXXX due to this mixup.
Let me know if you'd like to do that deal or if you'd like us to cancel entirely. I'm very very sorry for this mistake.
They did it to me twice. First time the counter offer was withdrawn (retailer submitted it by mistake they said). The second time the ORDER was cancelled after payment was processed (again retailer ACCEPTED the offer by mistake, thinking it was body only).

I've now sent 2 emails stating that I would accept the price of $1950 for the kit.
I've received nothing back.
So far, I'm not real impressed with Greentoe.
EDIT*
I now have received an email explaining that my credit card had been charged the $1850, so they
are going to add a second charge of $XXX to make up the difference.
It's still a pretty good deal in the long run.
Now it's a waiting game to see how long it takes to get shipped.
I'll update as needed to this thread as this moves forward.

Same, but not really expecting it to happen.
Just accepted an offer of $1825 for the A7lll body. I figured I would give greentoe another chance after they messed up last last one. Not in a hurry because I think this will be slow to ship.

you can buy a new A7III from B&H for $1,998 (same day ship, zero risk, no BS) - my time and peace of mind is worth more than the minuscule savings on your new body - but have fun with your new A7III

It’s zero risk. Just might be a longer than B&H ship wait.
And I live in NY. Tax would add $175 to the $2000.
RFisher wrote:
your definition of zero risk is substantially different from mine
there are countless reputable camera stores in the US to buy at B&H's price and avoid paying NY sales tax
so we are back to minuscule savings
Since I didn’t ask for your opinion let me give you mine Robert.
Time. Time is the same as ordering from B&H. And as I said I’m in no hurry.
Risk. No risk. 30day return policy. US Sony store.
You don’t even know who the store is I’m getting it from. I do.
And a $175 savings is not “ minuscule” to me.
