At this point that is only a "comment" and does not alter your commitment to pay for the item if a seller accepted the offer.

If someone leaks the seller/retailer name and the manufacturers find out then will they lose the 'authorized retailer' tag as the retailer is selling below 'MAP'?

If people really really want to find out which retailers offer these deals on Greentoe, they could email the folks who have bought them that way and ask them. Greentoe specifically asks buyers not to disclose the names of the retailers, I think we should respect that and not post the retailers names in a public forum.

Yes I understand that. I have bought on Greentoe and I would never disclose the seller name but my question/concern was different than 'if they leak', rather what would happen after the leak.

I'm still waiting on a Sony GM lens I ordered and paid for to ship.

It's been 8 days so far, 12 with the weekends.

For all my negative experience I will admit that the items always shipped quickly. I'd definitely contact greentoe and the seller after 8 business days if you don't even have a tracking number. That smells fishy. Seller probably accepted the order for an item they did not actually have in stock believing they could drop ship it to you. And now they probably cannot get one at all or at a cost to them where they're making money on it.

Dealers can respond and accept a deal when the item is out of stock. This happened with my A9 order, but all was good. I just had to wait a bit more. You can talk directly to the dealer, as I did. They were able to give me an idea of when the item would ship.

I think if I remember correctly, when I put in an offer on my A9 and 24-70 2.8 GM, I was told that I could get a lower price by waiting, or a slightly higher price for immediate shipping. Both were good transactions.

Neither Greentoe's FAQ's nor their ToS specify anything regarding a sellers obligation to have the item in stock. So while they may not be specifically prohibited from accepting backorders they clearly should provide some details at the time they accept the offer clearly stating that there will be a delay in delivery. Apparently that does not happen either.

This is only making me dislike greentoe even more. Since you are committed to the order at the time you (the buyer) make the initial offer, you have every expectation of immediate availability. The fact that a seller could accept an offer to provide an item they do not have in stock and obligating a buyer to wait is unreasonable. Another seller might have the item ready to ship but the buyer cannot be assured that a non-stocking drop shipper won't accept every offer first.

The only timeframe parameter controlled by the buyer is the time the offer will be valid: 3-7 days.

This appears to be a completely open ended order system for the sellers. They accept payment immediately upon acceptance of the order but have no obligation to deliver the item in any specific timeframe.

Thanks bwcolor, I thought I registered with GT on Saturday, and made an offer, but today ( Sunday) I could not log in there. So I set up my account again, made an offer, and on Sunday night within one hour, the bid was accepted. So far a good experience; will keep all informed as to how this all works out.

What kind of discounts can one generally expect on cameras? I've never used the service. If it is 5% then I'm not sure its worth it for me. But 10% and above I'd get interested I think.....

Yup, they expect payment as soon as the offer is accepted.

I have kept in tabs with the seller, the item dropped out of stock when I paid for the item. They expected Sony to ship them more last week, since they have been out of stock for two weeks now, I guess three now.

My last email has seen no reply, so, I'm not sure.
I saved 11% off MSRP, 18% when factoring in sales taxes for my state.
Anyone have had experience with a further reduction in selling price if it's been a week+ wait?
I know you save $20 if you don't request expediated shipping.

I would say a healthy 19%, more if you factor sales tax savings too.
On my A7R3 I saved 30% after factoring sales taxes for my state.

The biggest problem I see is if the dealer is charging a stocking fee for a return that is not acceptable to you, looks like your stuck

The more you (and others) want the camera, the less the discount. Supply and demand...
You have to make an offer to find out.

It's been three and half weeks, dealer has yet to fulfill my order.

Keep being told Sony hasn't sent them their stock for the lens.

I’m at 5 days on an A7R iii. I’m not in a huge rush, but I need it by the end of the month. I’m going to call the dealer today. They have the camera available on their website, so hopefully it ships soon.
