For reference, the wide open MTF's are better on the 28-75 on both ends than the 24-70 G2. That means that the wide end will perform likely near primes, but unfortunately, there's a drop on the long end, likely similar to the G2, just not as bad. How it compares to the GM? It probably doesnt on the long end, but it gets close wide open, probably negligible stopped down.

I went ahead and preordered. I figure I need an autofocus zoom and would prefer one with a brighter apertuere than F2.8. Not sure it will replace my C/Y 35-70 for landscape work, but will see how it goes. The price seems reasonable and hopefully the quality will be good. Seems like there is a good chance of high quality given the smaller zoom range than the 24-105 and the samples look pretty good, but time will tell.

Cancelled the early morning B&H preorder and preordered via Adorama for that little tiny cash back via Ebates.
This + A7III & 85mm 1.8 FE, I should be all set for my style of shooting... Few days ago while waiting for A7III to ship, I almost ordered the 28mm F2, glad i didn’t!

FE 28/2 still has a wonderful place in my kit.
Take off the grip, slap on the 28mm and wonderful light snapping.
The 28 loves wide field astro as a bonus.
My style of shooting has nothing to do with 28-75 but everyone needs a fas
normal. Thank you Tamron for not busting the bank or the spine.

Oh who am I kidding...I preordered. Samples I've seen look pretty darn good, and it's definitely the right price. I hope it delivers sometime in May...I have an event shoot in early June that could very much use an f/2.8 zoom.

Well, for Sony I don't have all that many. I am planning on cutting down my kits rather dramatically this summer. I'm selling all my m4/3 stuff and Sony APS-C stuff and cutting Fuji to just primes.
