I think folks need to be aware this is going to be a really hot seller. At 800 it’s darn cheap and it’s a 2.8 so not sure waiting on stock on hand is the best move if your in a little hurry. To be honest not sure we see any glaring downside. Even if it’s average it’s cetainly going beat Sony’s 24-70 F4 and maybe a few others or darn close enough. Obviously will depend on you usage and intended IQ your after. I’m fine with just a good zoom don’t have to be killer good. For me it’s a event lens but if your hoping a landscape in than maybe wait for tests. But it will be a hot seller out if the gate
Just the responses on this thread alone are very positive from members. I just hope there production can meet the demand

I didn't see an estimated ship date anywhere - some people mentioned end of May or beginning of June?
Adorama has a note on their page stating the manufacturer expects for the lens to start shipping on 5/24. I don't know exactly what that translates to in when people will start to get them in their hands.

Sigma need to wise up and start thinking along these lines instead of releasing giant lenses with welded on MC-11s. This lens tempts me but probably for my use I’ll go with the 24-105G.

I only recall one instance where tamron had supply issues, the 150-600. Being a standard zoom, they'll probably make suitable supply.
I do hope that Tamron sells buckets, it's about time someone stepped up and filled a much need void, affordable + good sized 2.8 lens.
one of the most important releases of the E-mount system IMO. The wait has been tough, but glad it's almost over.

It's really a terrible date....most people will have it arrive not Friday the 25th, but Tuesday the 29th since Monday is a holiday. That's a painful 5 day wait after shipping.

Dang it, could not resist. Order placed.
I agree with everyone else on here that this lens will sell like mad at that price and there is going to be a shortage. I honestly thought they were going to raise the price to $1000 or above when the hype for it started, I'm very glad they kept it reasonable, and when they see how much it sells hopefully they bring a wide and tele to the mount as well.

The one full sized sample on Tamron's site looks nice. It's a tempting lens, although I tend to just cover this range with the Sony 28/2 and 55/1.8 combo.
