Thanks Marc - i knew i could count on you! My rep is intact!!!
Back in the day -i was introduced onstage as "Crazy Jon Berry" as the crazy bass player...
As Buffett says "If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane"

I got tossed off Nikonians for complaining about the excessive moderation; I guess they proved my point. Being the upstart I am, I made them refund my $25 annual dues
My 14-24 has been ordered. That's what happens when you have nothing else to do on a Friday morning.

goes to show - nothing good happens in the morning . good money after bad?
JBear, you need to get over yourself. My post was made with the best intention, in case one of the Canon guys wanted to get this. Your remarks were somewhat funny six months ago, now they are just irritating.
Sorry for the post earlier this morning - didn't think long enough before posting. Let me apologize if I offended anyone.
JonB - thanks for coming out last night. Hope you were happy with the pics.
Marc, great shots from Lenox and thanks for coming out tonight. Hope you got some good stuff!
JonB mounted a flash on a tripod and fired it via pocketwizard, and Marc used a handheld flash some, and I think fired some without flash from monopod. He also mounted a camera up the hill to get some sky shots. Interesting to see different people and their approach to the same scene. Last night was a bit more hectic whereas tonight was more laid back and a little slower (they wanted to draw the show out a bit). Hope more people can maybe come out next year and give a shot at it.
JB, an interesting application of off camera flash. Not sure I would have thought of that. Please tell Deb that I like her shots and appreciate the sanity of her shooting position.
Colin, I really like making things go boom but I'm not totally sure I want to stand there and lite those things off...
Getting in the home stretch of getting our house packed up. We are trying to get everything moved before we close on the 31st. Now it is time to get a place to live in Nashville.
I've been trying to scout locations to shoot in the limited time I've had free. I really hope to be able to post an invitation of a weekend shoot, probably in early fall.
Hey Mark - i've been meaning to write to you. We're planning to go to Chattanooga in early August for the Robben Ford show. Deb has the details - but its free and he is usually only heard out on the west coast. He's got to be one of the best jazz/blues guitar players i know of and I've listened to him for 20 years or more. We aren't going to miss the show - and wondered if you would still be in town and have a taste for the blues.
Let me know.
and thanks for the remarks on the pics. Deb is always the more level headed between us... and since i'm used to my Marshall blasting away at my ears - i thought i didn't have anything to loose... boy was i wrong!
Marc - Your firework shots always rule....you are the man.
JB - Love your sunrise shot.
Colin - How did you like the 24L?
I receieved my 50L yesterday. Still playing with it. Looks like I will be camera-less for a couple days....I traded for a MKIII and it will not he here till Weds.....
Welcome to the club! I know you're going thru withdrawal about now - but the shakes will pass. I get through it by playing John Lennon's Cold Turkey over and over.
So is it a... no dot, blue dot, green dot or a yellow dot Mark III. No kidding - there have been that many iterations of minor versions. My first one was a no dot. This one is a Yellow. I'm pleased as punch - and while the 24-70 is away getting cleaned up, the 24-105 is out getting run through its paces again and I'm pleased with the IQ and sharpness. I guess I'll keep em both.
Be sure the body has firmware version 1.2.3 - its free to download and it makes a big difference on most bodies.
The Mark III is a different beast than any previous 1D body - it will take some getting used to and some of the settings aren't as easy to figure out. Let me know if you want any help. But i suggest you shoot with it "as is" first - see how the previous owner had it set up. Then save the settings to a file in case you want to go back to it.
Also if you need to upgrade the firmware - do that first before you back up the settings file - as there are new settings that will be written that won't be on the old set until its upgraded. Once its upgraded - you can't load old settings.
Thats all heads up stuff your seller should have told you - but just in case he/she didn't - there you go.
