Mark, you seem to have way too many troubles with that Mac - I've never had that kind of luck. In fact - you've had as much trouble with your first one that I've had with all of mine since about 1985!
Did you forget to read the note inside the box top? It says ther are two rules for using a Mac - 1) don't read anything inside the box
2) don't do anything like you did with a pc
My tiny little subject, my sexiest little model.
He was a pretty good baby for the shoot seeing how we put him through so much.
He's 12 days old.

DD, congrats on getting your studio done. Hope you get to use it a bunch
Well, I'm playing with CS3 (finally). I SHOULD be doing projects around the house but Nancy went out to attend graduation so while the cats away...
Here is a first round edit on a shot from Mirror Lake. I haven't decided if I like it yet or not. I'm going to not see it for a while and come back to it with fresh eyes later. I can't wait to go back out there
Thanks JU, I really can't wait to go back. As nice as the weather was, I really hope for some clouds and storms next time so That I can get some good sky's and evening colors. I also hope to strike a good balance between runoff and open areas. There were lots of areas closed due to snow when I was there.
Here is one more for now. Again, nothing that hasn't been shot thousands of times. I did learn at least where I want to try to get shots next time...
DD, both were in Yosemite . The first is Vernal Falls, the second is Lower Yosemite Falls. Here is a pull back shot of the entire fall including upper and lower yosemite
Some time this summer I hope to try to process this shot to pull out the shadows and tone down the highlights but I just don't have a lot of spare time right now.
WOW! I am green with envy, that is absolutely amazing. I am 45 years old and never in my life been to Yosemite. Thats so un-American! *cry* Great shots! I have seen not only amazing landscapes but also a huge amount of wildlife photographed from there. I so need to put Yosemite on my list of things to do and see before I die. Thanks for sharing this amazing place!
There are two places everyone MUST go at least once in their life... Sedona, Arizona, including Oak Creek Canyon and Yosemite.
Our trip to Yosemite was marred by a daily burnoff of undergrowth making the valley floor hazy and a drought that left the falls only a trickle - and still it was a beautiful place.
Believe it or not - the second was just after sweet light the same night as #1. Shot with the 300 2.8. That was the color - no PS tricks. The haze and the full moon was all the light there was. #3 was just when the sunlight lit up half dome - while everything else was in shadow. It only lasted a few minutes.
Thanks Grant - even that shot of yours shows how dramatic the late day sunlight is on the mountain faces. I wish we could have had 1/2 the flow you and Mark had... it makes all the difference in those shots!
We went up there for 3 evenings. 1st was a bust, 2nd was too windy. The last night we were up there the color was the best from all week but it was terribly windy. We tried using the truck and several bodies to block the wind but even with IS on we couldn't get any decent longer exposures...
Mark
DD, we didn't see a lot of wildlife at Yosemite, possible you were remembering Yellowstone? BOth places are worthy of multiple visits.
JB, the in-laws bought a small condo in Phoenix last year and are part timing it there. I'm hoping Nancy & I will get to make several trips out there.
Grant, this was taken around 8:30 am. Late for good light, I know. There was some pretty strong side lighting and I thought I would see how it looked...
Well, we are going back early summer next year to celebrate a couple of birthdays with some old HS buddies. They will tolerate me some but they aren't photog's...
I REALLY want to go to Yellowstone. We should plan a trip for 2010. I don't care what season as they all have different things to offer in the park... I know it seems a long way away but if you don't start planning soon it may be hard to get spots etc...
A trickle! WHAT? I could never imagine a waterfall of that magnitude ever being just a trickle over the ledge. That would be weird.
MAN! You all have some wonderful and amazing photos.
I have just never gone any further West than Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.I had only moved permantely to the U.S. when I was 12 years old. I have never seen the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, or Yosemite. I have been up and down the East Coast, but never seen the Statue of Liberty. I have been all over Washington DC though, and been into Up State NY and Canada onto Niagra Falls, and all over Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina, etc. I lived my younger years in Germany, Panama, and visited Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and Holand. So my life has not been real boring. But I have without a doubt missed on on many of the wonders of our great states. *Boo Hoo*
We decided after going to London and Paris - that there were enough great places here in the US - that I was going to spend my travel dollars right here until I've seen all of the great sites. Europeans take our money for granted and in my opinion, don't deserve to get even one... not when the Lone Cypress in Monterrey, EL Capitan in Yosemite, Point Imperial in the Grand Canyon, the sunsets on the great plains, and the colors of Sedona all wait to be gathered into our cameras and then posted for all to see.
