I read somewhere that Sony’s come with Capture One in the box. I didn’t get that.
Got a free 300mb/s 64gb card, a hdmi cable and a cheap camera bag as freebies.
There is a special version of Capture One Express that opens Sony RAW only files... no the one of other manufacturers... you can buy cheap a license to convert Express version to PRO, but only for Sony files... for other cameras you need to buy a full license

The one error, for me, is that on the battery that you buy from Sony has no cover. I found this very convenient with the Canon batteries. The cover protects the contacts and I would have the open battery window to blue on the battery when it was fresh and when changing batteries I would put the cover on the opposite way so it served two valid uses.

Playing with mine.
This is my first Sony so pls excuse me...
The shutter sound is loud. Mechanical shutter sounds like two distinct thuds which makes you think oh, did i do a slow shutter speed?? Even DSLRs don’t sound like that.
First curtain is one sound, loud, but better.
Build: a chunk of metal
Design: a bit clunky. Not a looker at all. My EM1.2 is a looker and smooth lines etc.
My first lens happened to be 28 FE. Getting 55 tomorrow. Have placed an order for CV 40.
Will add 15, 21 and 85 later.
And i am excited like a kid ...Show more →
Yes the shutter noise is louder than the r2; but R3 also has less vibration which is important! I think the noise is the fancy anti vibration damping. You can use the silent shutter in R3 with no IQ penalty except when you might get distortions with rapidly moving things.
Agree about he looks! A7r was not bad looking, r2 uglier, r3 uglier still. But hardly significant!

Picked min up at lunch here in Vancouver from FusionCine... They only had 2 bodies and I guess at least one pre-order must have cancelled because when I contacted them back a month ago, I was at least 3rd on the list. But good for me!
I don't think there are many in Canada at all. The Camera Store, which has a large presence and a good YouTube following (their guys are invited to all the Sony promotional events) only got 5 bodies, and I was somewhere near 25 on the list there.
Canada got a bit screwed on this launch I think. It makes me feel even more fortunate.
Now how long does it take the damn battery to charge?!
EDIT: Oh, I asked the service guy at FusionCine about the online debate regarding screen protectors... he wasn't all that helpful to be honest. It became immediately clear that he was the kind of person who religiously puts a screen protector on everything... his camera, his phone, etc.... so naturally he only recommended I put one on the camera because "Life Happens". So I'm afraid that offers no real insight into the debate over adding a screen protector.

Odd I find the shutter sound to be quieter and softer on my R3 than R2 by quite a noticeable amount. In fact this was one of the differences that I first noted. an even more significant difference is noticeable when you have EFCS disabled with full mechanical shutter, it is so much quieter that you can hardly tell the difference between the two.

I chose one day shipping and it shipped this morning. UPS has updated my package to be on time and is on the way
Did the same and just got an update saying on time and due to be delivered tomorrow by 12pm. You can bet I will be here all day if needed to sign for it. I am soooo ready to put this wait to bed and start enjoying the camera I ordered over a month ago! ......Great they just reported a 5.1 earthquake felt from New York City to Baltimore. Quit shaking my camera around! Hope that doesn't delay anything.

What is the downside of putting on a quality screen protector?

Agree that full mechanical is quieter with R3; but EFCS is louder (to my ears!) on R3 compared to R2.
But they are very different sounds, so that can affect subjective judgements.

Same as stacking UV filters on the front of you lens I guess... less light transmission, more reflection, slight reduction in image quality. Usually I'm not one for screen protectors of any kind... I detest having something on my displays, but with my Camera I do it anyway as it's generally in much harsher situations than most of my other devices with displays.

The only downside that I've ever encountered is it costs you more $$.
A high quality screen protector has never degraded the image quality of the LCD on any of my cameras to an extent that I can tell any difference.

I could have gotten one for a few hundred less at Greentoe but they wouldn't confirm when it would be in. I then emailed them and called and they never got back to me.

Otherwise, If you need the camera now, I saw a guy from Florida store posted that he had about 30 A7R3 in stock as of this morning. With a telephone number. Also in Facebook A7R3 group. Not sure how many he has left
