All bracketing is disabled with uncompressed + silent shutter enabled on the A7RIII. Fun fact though, the A9 supports uncompressed + silent + bracketing however.
A9 has a stacked sensor that allows the camera to move data downstream at a much faster rate. Plus it's moving half as much data downstream per image than the a7rII.

Ah, OK, got it. I thought it was just downgrading shots rather than preventing them from being taken completely. That is indeed unfortunate.

It's nothing to do with data rates, the camera will happily shoot at 10 frames per second, with the electronic shutter, with uncompressed RAW, at full 14-bit.
The bracketing thing is just a weird software restriction that defies any attempt logic!

Thanks! It would be very interesting to see whether there are any changes when using ES.
No differences with Electronic First Curtain Shutter versus Mechanical.

For me at the moment the most frustrating thing is the lack of Lightroom RAW support. I have a couple of days of possible documentary photo work at the beginning of next week where I will have to use my trusty A7rII. Hope they update the RAW convertor asap

I think there’s a way to tweak the files to set them as A7RII photos so Adobe products recognize the files. I’m sorry but I don’t recall the specifics.
The tooll will automatically make backups for you, if you don't want this add -overwrite_original to the command.
Thanks for this. Spoke to Adobe and though they wouldn't give me a date it should be released very soon. Will stick to A7rII until it arrives for work where I need RAW images

Thanks from me too, Matt. I tried this utility and it works exactly as you say. Phostoshop is able to open A7r3 files disguised as A7r2. Curiously though, when you open the properties tab in windows explorer it says that the camera model is still A7r3. I guess that the tag modified by exiftool isn’t the same that win. explorer uses to detect the model.

Okay so I'm am no expert when it comes to using 'terminal' in mac so I would be grateful if you could explain how I select the folder that I want to convert the files from when using ' exiftool.exe -sonymodelid="ILCE-7RM2" *.ARW '
Also where will the files be saved. I'm always wary when using terminal as I'm always worried about making some mistake and mucking up my laptop. Thanks for your time

My camera was delivered today. Took a toll on my patience to wait out the charging time.
The new menu is definitely an improvement over the old one. But the thing that knocked my socks off was the overall responsiveness of the camera. The AF is awesome, especially the Eye-AF. I've only tested it on my kids at home (only rain here) but i love it. My last Sony cam was an A7R so the improvements are overwhelming. But also compared to the X-T2 the autofocus is very snappy even indoors in dim light.

Just the wait for Nov 30th has taken a toll on my patience. Then have to wait for the battery to charge may be more than I can handle! The more comments like yours I read the more excited I am about receiving my A7RIII.

I have 4 Sony 64gb high speed cards. I do want to get a 128 one though

I'd suggest Sony and retailers should send the batteries with the charger first and then the cam when ready baked. That way an h'ordeuvres is provided ...
