I just pre-ordered the a7RIII on Amazon today. I went on the mobile app to get assistance (via chat) on the order and it gave me a ship date of Dec. 18th. Not sure if it’s accurate, but it’s a good indicator of where you could be on the wait list.
So long that I have it before the new year I’m happy.

I made the decision this morning to (for sure) upgrade to the A7RIII. Battery life in cold weather is so, so bad with the A7RII. This morning I was out for one hour in only -23C weather and went through five batteries. I need the bigger battery in the A7RIII. At least that is what I will tell myself....

Seems to me like an A9 / A7RIII combo would be pretty much perfect for weddings (given you'll want a spare body) especially since they take the same battery/grip. A7RIII for portraits and wide shots, A9 for action and low light shots!

Gary, only you Calgarians think -23C is a walk in the park. I’m here in Salmon Arm sitting at -8C and feeling cold.

Haha Harry! You BC boys have it so good... I probably should have tried just plugging in a battery pack to the micro-USB and be done with it. But I will pretend that I don't have that option and go ahead with the pre-order.

I put in a pre-order with B&H the day they started taking them, so soon I'll have to keep the pre-order going or cancel it. I can't imagine cancelling it, though I do have my D800 and a bunch of other photographic stuff to sell to help pay for the difference between the new A7RIII and whatever I can get for my A7RII

Most definitely get the new fast SD cards. I use Sony’s and they been working great. But you need these I your slot 1. Again I would get them soon here before they get hard to find
They also have the fast USB 3 that you can get. I use that also and it’s very fast

I'm in the same boat with guitars, however they usually don't lose value especially when buying used. It's a real dilemma for purchases.
