Just ordered mine off of Camera Quest. Hoping that they have a shipment of them coming in here soon.
Update from Camera Quest last week indicated that the lenses were in transit and expected to begin shipping by the end of this week (assuming they do not get held up in customs)

John, great shots. Do you use eye AF on most of your shots w/ TAP?
Thank you, @Dane O.
Usually, I don’t use eye AF with the TAP unless it’s a shot where the subject is posing (rare for how I shoot). With the A9 (and the other touchscreen models), it’s just been easier to tap the spot on the screen or move the single point over with the joystick.
Eye AF on the TAP works, but it isn’t anywhere near as effective as a native lens or an adapted Canon mount lens with something like the Metabones, hence the reason I only use it on very stationary subjects.
Yea I should have clarified my comment better too, sorry about the that. Tap is good for getting the focus to the subject than I always took over focusing than you have to remember to put it back to infinity. It’s okay but I gave up on it. I’m actually faster focusing than the TAP.
Having said that this 40 is really nice to get it into focus fairly quick.
One problem with this thread is we are talking about two different models of the 40. I use the FE version so no TAP
Ok good to know, John. I'll be testing out the native E-mount when my A7iii arrives next week but I'm thinking about getting an M mount + TAP to A/B compare the two and either return the M or sell my E-mount. Again, I've been pretty impressed with your tack sharp images so it got me curious to see if the TAP can be used effectively.

Nice! You’ll be one of the few that actually has some time with both simultaneously.
I think most of the pros and cons have already been discussed at length throughout the thread so getting your hands on both will really be the best way to decide.
With regard to the M mount version with TAP, it has actually been the best performing lens I’ve had. Unlike all the 50-58mm lenses I’ve used on it, you can get most of the focus range if you just leave it at infinity or just a hair back. Most of the other slightly longer lenses have required much more actively mindful adjustment of focus distance on the lens. Essentially, I almost never have to adjust it with the 40.
Haven't really shot very much right at MFD, but at decently close distances, it still performs plenty well for my needs. A9 + VM 40/1.2 by John Dizzo, on Flickr

I am assuming you went e-mount?
Indeed. The plan is to replace my 1.7/35 and one aspect of that is to have a native lens and not worry about anything.
