Fred measured it and it’s really about 43.5mm.
Are you guys coupling it with a 28mm or 24mm?
Wasn't aware of that. When I find the time I will do a comparison with the 1.7/35 and see for myself if the 1.2/40 can really replace it for me.
I don't have one standard kit at the moment. The 2/65 APO sees quite a lot of use and I am pretty sure that I will buy the 2.5/110 (I hope it isn't much heavier than 800g). I also have a modified G90 with a real focus helix.
The only modern wideangle I own is the FE 4/16-35 which gives good results but I enjoyed shooting the Loxia 2.4/25 a lot more and used at medium distances and f/2.4 it gives a look neither the 16-35 nor the L21 can recreate. I also use the 16-35 most often at the wide end so I see myself ending up with Laowa 2/15 and L25 which can be combined with the CV40 and/or CV65 as well as the G90 or CV110 depending on application.
L25 and CV40 are a bit close and I would like the spacing with the L21 better but right now I think I am better served by the L25.

That all makes sense. I usually shoot a g21, a 28-35, CY 50mm and Minolta 100 f2 (it’s good at everything except macro). I am eagerly awaiting the cv 110 as well.
My street/causal urban kit is nearly always a 21, 35, 75 lux.
So the CV 40 kills my kits. I never liked 50mms so much except in portrait applications. I apprecaied the CV 35 1.7 for its size and optics and consistently excellent results, but I never loved it. The CV 40 is an entirely different signature. I opted for the m-mount. It’s so dinky I love it. I’ll be excited to see your work with the CV 40
What looks are you talking about with the L25? WO, stoped down, Bokeh, transition zones?
edit: I will say, I can't remember a lens under 50mm that the files feel like a 85 1.4 in terms of separation and smoothness. The bokeh is incredibly abstracted for such a wide.

The L25 and CV40 angle of view spacing is 26 degrees. In comparison your CV40 to CV 65 are only separated by 17 degrees.
At the end, I believe my spacing will be L25, CV40, CV65 and CV110 but I still love shooting with the CV 15 and L21 lenses...tough choices ahead.
If the CV110 is too heavy, I will continue shooting with the Batis 135 for the long range.
Yeah, CV40 and CV65 don't make that much sense together. L25, CV40 and G90 could combine into a rather small and excellent kit and if weight is of less concern the G90 would be replaced with the CV110. I could also see using just L25 and CV65 for my forest walks.
I think the CV40 will often be used as my only lens in more social contexts and also for leisure walks.
I see what you mean Phillip—really like that spacial feel in photo 2.
Funny Fred, we are thinking the same, but I am slightly wider with a 4 lens set with 21,35,50,100. Not sure I want to switch my whole kit on account of the CV 40.
How are you calculating the degrees per lens? How far away is my 21/32/50?

This happened to me. The CV40 stays on my A7R3 more than any other lens since it doubles as a wide + normal lens. I like the way it renders more than any other 35/1.4 I've tried.
As far as AOV spacing goes, 15/25/40/85 works really well at ~25 degrees apart but it's not for everyone. I can see myself carrying 25/65 or just 40.
For landscapes my entire kit is: CV12, CV15, L21, L25, CV40, CV65, 70-300. The latter is sometimes replaced by the Batis 135.
I just got mine delivered. I find the lens hood a bit odd in the way it attaches. It's not an issue...it's just different than anything else I have. Too bad I had a procedure done on my elbow yesterday and I cannot lift a camera for a few days.
Is there some kind of trick to de-clicking this lens? my CV15 is easy to de-click. The CV40....not so much. I don't know if it is stuck or just very difficult to do the first time.

It's easy to calculate:
2 * arctan (43.3 / 2xFL) where 43.3mm is the full frame diagonal size. You may use 24mm or 36mm if you want to find out the vertical or horizontal AOV respectively.

It's very easy to de-click the CV40:
Push the de-click ring down. (it's located right above the aperture ring). While holding it down, just turn it 180 degrees until you feel a click and you see a yellow marking instead of the white dot. Release the ring.

It's a bit different than the CV 12 and 15.
You know just thinking about this since our Loxia glass also has a de click feature and given we can see the aperture set via the contacts which shows us in the EVF and Live view that it maybe faster to say focus wide open and just turn to working. This is something I never tried but it maybe worth giving it a go.
