Interesting. Photovillage and Camera Quest are both listed on the Voigtlander website as the authorized distributors in the US. Both show out of stock online. I ordered mine from Camera Quest in February and received an email last week stating the lens would arrive and start shipping about 2 weeks.

I phoned Adorama today, having ordered at the beginning of march. Zero news

I wonder what caused this low stock. I know this lens is popular here at FM, even though it's manual focus.
I've been enjoying shooting with it and have not missed my AF lenses for a while.

Many Voigtländer lenses tend to run out of stock periodically in Japan market and then it might take weeks or months for them to come back in stock. I suppose they have rather limited production runs at certain intervals and if the lenses are in relatively high demand they might be out of stock for a longer time.
Currently in Tokyo the 3 e-mount lenses 40/1.2, 65/2 and 35/1.4 Classic are all out of stock in most stores. They are also the top 3 selling Voigtländer lenses according to kakaku.com sales ranking.

I wonder if the 35/1.4 is selling as well here in the US. I would like to test (and perhaps buy) their new 21 and 110mm lenses just because I'm so impressed with their E-mount line-up and still hopeful for a high IQ 28mm.
I seriously reckon it’s this thread that has caused the shortage , or should I say caused higher initial sales than Voigtlander expected. I know it’s this thread that has caused me to want one :-)

I also think 35/1.4 has probably been selling better in Japan than many other other markets. I'm happy with the whole trio I will also probably get the 110 mm and I'm sure to get the 21mm once they come out.
I used to have the native CV 10mm as well but once the Sony wide angle zooms (12-24 and 16-35 GM) came out I replaced my wide primes with those for the most part.
At CP+ when I talked with their staff member I especially mentioned the need for a nice manual 28mm for e-mount, he didn't reveal if anything was in the plans already regarding that but at least he promised to take the feedback back to their team. I hope they realize the demand for that...

CameraQuest is their US distributor and Stephen, the owner, has requested my feedback to forward to Voigtlander.
Based on FM polls and comments, I've suggested a native 28mm, a 35/1.7 Ultron E-mount and a 180/4 APO macro.

Did he happen to give you an arrival date for the 40? I leave for Italy 2 weeks from tomorrow and was really hoping to have this for my trip.

Amazon has one in stock as of this morning. Another option is to rent one from Lensrentals and buy it as part of their Keeper program.

I just checked and it looks like Amazon is saying in stock on April 5. The seller is camera quest and fulfilled by amazon. i am guessing that camera quest direct sales should ship sooner as the extra step to deliver to Amazon from the distributor is out of the equation.

+1 for the Lensrentals option. Outstanding service, very good people.
It’s funny I asked my friend who arranges deals for Adorama to check on the in stock status for me. The camera guy didn’t even know that this lens ever existed. I guess for large stores like Adorama, a low volume lens like CV40 is just a blip in their lives.
Got one today, used. Definitely not sharp at 1.2 but a nice look from the few I've shot so far. Try an upload some later (of my dog of course) to play along.
I take it back, its not bad at 1.2 in certain light.
