Just to make sure: are you using the E or VM version of the lens?

Sorry for late. I'm using the E mount version of this lens. Not sure why the EXIF information is not showing on my Flickr account.

I figured I'd try posting here too. It's a first, but since I've been getting so much enjoyment out of this lens I feel like I had to try. The inspiration from this thread has been absolutely wonderful, and the lens is fantastic to use.

Boats on the beach in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England. For those who don't know, Aldeburgh is on the far eastern coast of England, and like the far reaches of Norfolk it feels somewhat detached from the rest of the country. It is a very romantic landscape with a beautiful shingle coastline with amazing light. I've been going there for 30 years. The last trip a couple of weeks ago yielded one or two nice images.

p.206 #12 · Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 Nokton Review

My CV 15mm has so far been my only manual focus lens. I use it pretty much exclusively stopped down for landscapes, so it is pretty much infinity focus and fire away. I have enjoyed the quality of the CV and the experience of using it so much I have decided to learn to shoot manual lenses.

I anticipate that manual focus will be a specialty kind of shot for me. It will be for when I have time to focus, and am looking for more character in the image. So, I chose the VC 40mm f1.2 to be my manual focus trainer.

I found a nice used copy here in the B&S forum and bought it. IT arrived today, so the learning, and adventure begins. I am really looking forward to it.

Good for you, 1bwana1, it's very satisfying. I'd like to know the proportion of total lens sales that are manual focus. Maybe someone in NY can quietly ask the B&H people. My guess is 0.5%, one in 200. Canon announced in 2017 they had made 130,000,000 EF lenses.

People complain about 'Sony colours', but it's not often anyone takes issue about colour with Cosina's E mount Voigtlander lenses. Perhaps the lenses have something to do with it..

Thanks Phlip.

My lens has arrived! However, it has been pouring rain since I got it. So, the only things I have been able to shoot are things around the house, and my Wife.

The Wife says if I post any pictures of her I will suffer a painful, and lifelong debilitating surgery to a special part. I think it best not to test her on this.

I find that with the focus peaking and zooming I can get good reliable focusing even at f1.2. Just need to work on speed. As expected I just love the build quality, and the way the Voigtlander handles. It is so solid and everything is so smooth. I am looking forward to using the lens in the real World soon. Colors and rendering are superb as well from what I have seen so far.

Hopefully, I will get some images to post to this thread over the weekend.

I don't own many lenses and for about 95% of the time I shoot CV 21&40 (maybe that is why I never understood why "everybody" has got issues with Sony colors) and all I can say not once did I wish for a pol filter to get nice skies, when I was shooting (apsc) Canon I needed pol filter to get nice color to the sky...

CV lenses have (for my amateur eyes) the best color rendition I have ever seen...

Glad you like this little gem, I too was surprised how (relatively) easy it is to manual focus cv lenses, I found this article by Phillip Reeve very useful - especially the flickering tip for focusing with Sony maybe you'll find it useful too...

Cheers A.

p.s.: It seems our wifes could be related :-)
