Thanks a lot for all the likes guys! I can only recommend going there if you ever visit Java. You drive up to the ridge of that giant crater (2600m of altitude) and spend 2hrs in the cold photographing the sunrise over that amazing scenery (standing in the middle of approx. 500 people doing the same ). Totally worth it - what you see is 3 "baby volcanoes" that formed in the ancient crater, with another volcano (Semeru) in the distance, which is active, too, but only blew one little cloud of smoke while I was there. The active of the three small volcanoes is Mount Bromo, and you can see a temple at its foot.

Here's a panorama I did shortly before the sun started to touch the peaks, stitched from 5 separate shots (still at f/5.6 with the Z6). Click to see a larger version.

Does anyone's CV40 kick in the MF assist/distance gauge on the slightest touch? Mine has started doing that recently, it would appear there is a little bit of play between the lens and the camera mount ring causing this. Just touching the lens, not even the MF ring, sometimes triggers it.

I traveled to Taipei just to buy this lens. That feeling when you move the focus ring is so satisfying

Hi All

I have a question about this lens. I exported and uploaded all the pics taken with this lens and A7III to my flickr account. It seems the exif doesn't show all the information like shutter speed, fstop, iso and focal lenght. Is this expected from this lens?

Just to make sure: are you using the E or VM version of the lens?

Mine has started doing it too lately and it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes I don't even have to touch the lens - moving the camera slightly is often enough to activate the scale and once activated it flutters back and forth between different distances. Very annoying, especially since I didn't want the scale to begin with and wish it could be disabled (without taping the contacts). It also makes me worried that other problems will show up eventually, perhaps even something that will cause it to fail on a trip or something.

For the longest time I avoided lenses with electrical contacts after have read that some people had problems with Loxias and other such lenses, but when I got the great deal on this E mount CV 40 I couldn't resist. Now I'm starting to regret that I didn't stick with M mount lenses.

Thanks for confirming, Helena. I have had mine for a year or so, it should thus still be covered by warranty. Meanwhile my Sigma 45/2.8 should be a great stand-in.

Yes, I did that on mine and the first time around it seemed to have made a difference for a little while, although it could be just a matter of how tight the mount fitting was. The symptom reappeared shortly afterwards. I have suspected the loose mount fit to be the culprit, especially now after Helena mentioned that hers exhibits the problem when simply moving the camera.

Thank you both! When I can find the time I will experiment a bit and we'll see what happens. Hope it'll work out because I love the lens.

Some photos to keep the positive spirit of the thread (cross posted with the Sony FE thread):
